post office Instant saving account trouble to get money from

I wonder if anybody else has experienced difficulties in the last 2 weeks of getting access to their own Instant Saving account in the post office. I have spoken to them 10 times requesting to withdraw from MY SAVINGS, with out success. Am I the only person to whom this happened.

what are the terms of the account?
what did they say to you?

by the way.your choice in formatting isnt going to help

    edit:
You can access your money 24/7:

    from ATM cash machines
    from Post Office® branches
    online
    by post
    by telephone

You can withdraw up to £1,000 a day in cash (as long as you have money in your account, of course) from our nationwide network of branches and any one of 60,000 Link ATMs around the country.

Withdrawals up to £15,000 can be made to your nominated account through our Telephone and Internet Banking Service. You will need your 6 Digit Security Number to access this service. Withdrawals made through BACS are transferred directly out of your Instant Saver account and are normally credited to your nominated account after three working days. The cut off time for BACS payments being processed is 4pm.

There is no limit on the value of withdrawals (by cheque or transfer to your nominated account) you request by writing to Freepost RSKH-AYTT-CRAB, Post Office® Savings, PO Box 520, WELWYN GARDEN CITY, AL7 9JE.

Please note outbound CHAPS are not offered as a payment method and we do not offer a facility to pay funds to a third party. You can make six free withdrawals in any financial year (from March 21st to March 20th), with any after that costing just £1.

    so wheres the problem?
  • thank you for you most informed reply. All I got when ringing them was promises to act. Different people in a call office promised several times to post cheques which were not posted ever! They kept apologising but were totaly inefective. There were tens of excuses given. They did some unbelieveable things, such as change my security number without being asked to, hence causing another delay and of course my account is at this moment inaccessible to me as I have yet to receive the new security number by post. The latest excuse yesterday was that the system has gone down. I have checked my telephne bill and I have spent about £7 on frustrating phone calls. I feel helpless and wonder if I am the only person who has experienced such treatment? also what to do next?

Try this number 0800 1694955, I didn't try myself, but on saynoto 0870 site

I find it no problem at all for the post office instant saving account. But not sure I am having the same account as yours.

Next time you request a withdrawal make a note of the person you spoke to and the date & time of the call. Explain that the money is urgently needed and ask how long, approx, will it take.

If you don't receive it within say a week of their estimate then write a letter of complaint (with the word COMPLAINT in the subject) detailing all your previous attempts to withdraw money and the frustration and inconvenience it has caused.

There's no point in them recording calls "for training purposes" if they're not going to act on them!
  • post office instant saver is fine if you only wish to withdraw from a link atm or at the post office the problems arise whn you request a cheque, as cheques arent issued by the folk who answer the phone(some of whom are getting a p45 for xmas) due to new call centre in ireland who havent a clue, :(sorry i digress when u request a cheque all the agent does is send a email to head office, allegedly this is then processed in india which takes ages for the cheque to arrive indeedy if at all, to make it look like something is happening we send email, someone else duplicates what we have requested then if ur lucky 3 days later it will be processed and if your really lucky the cheque will be sent in uk call centre we tell customers what we have been telling the for years the truth as we know it if we could tell you on the phone what really happens we will loose jobs so there u have it ive nothing to lose :(
