Was I right?-Dominoes pizza credit.

2 weeks ago may partner and I ordered 2 pizzas for home delivery. We were told it would be over an hour, but as it was a Saturday night, we'd planned for this and ordered early, so were fine about waiting. We also used a BOGOF voucher.

When the pizzas arrived they were virtually inedible. Very dry, and obviously overcooked. I phoned the store immediatly to complain. I was told they were 'too busy' to send us replacements (but not to cook for other paying customers I'm sure!) but that we'd have a credit applied to our 'account' for free ones next time, I specifically asked if that ment 2 free as we'd used a voucher, and was told 'yes, thats what a credit is' in a very sarcastic tone.

Fast forward to last night, when neither of us fancied cooking, so we decided to use our credit.
Before I even told the girl our order, I checked that they would be free, so she went for the manager-fine I thought, he must just need to authorise it, no. They had made no record of our complaint, or of the credit, and now didn't want to give it to us! He began by saying we could have one free, but would have to pay for the other, I refused as I still have plenty of BOGOF vouchers if I'd wanted that. He then offered me one Pizza and a side order instead, again, I pushed, tried very hard not to be rude (might not have been totally successful ;) ), and finally, after nearly half an hour the manager agreed that he would send us 2 pizzas free (though I should point out that he WAS rude, and obviously only did it to get rid of me.).

Was I right to insist on 2 free? I'm not entirely sure I was, but pushed as that was what I'd been told I'd get.

Of course you were. They offered you two free and you were merely taking them up on that offer! Not your fault they denied all knowledge.

Yes you are right to insist on something edible. Maybe the pizza oven was playing up and they couldn't cook a decent pizza so deferred it to another day but what did you eat on the Saturday night that the pizzas were overcooked I wonder? Two weeks is a bit long to wait I would have ordered it for the next day.

More than entitled. Good for pushing your cause.

On the menu, you may also have the name of the franchisee. Contact him/her with your complaint and see how they feel about it...then tell the manager what you have done/will do and see what happens then! (And don't use it as a bargaining tool as blacklisting someone at Domino's is easy...although usually only based on phone number, the can do addresses too).
  • HappyMJ-I don't see why 2 weeks was too long, I wasn't told there was a time limit on the credit, and we don't eat pizza that often, certainly not every week. As the following day was a Sunday, we had a roast ;) Not that it matters at all, but on the night our pizzas were inedible, we had toast, which was very unsatisfying.

Fozzeh-What do you mean? Use what as a bargaining tool? I'm not bothered if they won't deliver to us anymore, there are at least 4 other pizza places in a 4 mile radius that will ;) I just wanted what they promised.

You did the right thing. After all you were only asking for what was promised to you. But it would have been better if you noted the name of the person who promised you the 2 free pizzas, that would have saved you some time of explaining over the phone.

When I worked there, people used to complain for the smallest thing and tried to get away with it. One guy did it weekly and in the end, he gave up trying it on.

If you're an honest customer, then everything is fine!

We had a Dominoes pizza the other week ( on a bogof as well) and they arrived stone cold. We called and complained and were thankfully lucky enough that they redid the order and sent it out within 30 minutes.

We have had other problems before and got a free garlic bread because of the issue but our local shop seems to be quite reasonable compared to others.

It might be that it is not in the town so depend on the locals and the good will rather then "passing trade"

Good for you for sticking to your guns..we got banned from a local Indian takeaway because I complained about several hairs in my dinner and they refused to refund or come out so we took the food down to them to show them, they gave us a replacement and then banned us.

They banned you because they had poor sanitation... I would have complained to TS had I been banned, because it sounds like they want to get rid of you complaining rather than deal with the issue.

I had an Indian from 2 weeks ago - http://www.just-eat.co.uk/restaurants-foodspot

Yes I am naming and shaming...but there were more hairs than chicken in one curry and the dhansak had a 2cm layer of ghee on the top. No curries from there again.

Domino's are generally good at helping their customers. Always ask for BOGOF even if it's not on the menu. If they offer buy one get one half price on delivery, ask them if you pick it up...generally, your petrol costs won't be about £6.

i ordered from a store in gloucester last night (always have problems cos there staff never listen to me, the customer)..
Had a 50% voucher if spending over £40....
so ordered 2 large and chicken things, bill came to £20.25, lovely :)
ordered pizzas, very specific when i said double sauce, ie: 2 scoops with the sauce....
So as always, i watch them make my pizza, and watch the bloke put 1 scoop of sauce on, then do toppings then into oven....
i then tell the manager what i asked for, silly pr!ck could hardly speak english, tells me that i should have informed the staff member to put more sauce on ???

I was like, You want me to tell your staff how to do there jobs when its in front of them on a monitor saying DOUBLE sauce, Grrrrrrrr !! said i aint happy with the service, then i got £8 back :):)
Sweeeeeeeet! Just how it should be, dont get what you ask for, you dont pay it, :)
