Thanks for the lovely messages, everyone. It's so nice to have so many people to share it with! And i really do wish everyone the best of luck with your own debts. If i ever win the lottery, i'll split it with you x
To answer your questions, I started off by cutting up my credit cards, creating a budget sheet, allowing myself a small amount of spending money each month and paying the left over cash off my debt each month.
I saved loads of money using this site - using the Grab it & Shop but Don't Drop thread bargains for birthday and Christmas gifts, using Quidco for cashback, following Martins advice to compare car insurace quotes and switch to the cheapest energy providers etc.. and put the savings towards debts.
I started clothes shopping at Peacocks - and am often asked where my 'lovely knee-high boots' (£20!) or 'gorgeous winter jacket' came from.
I bagged £40 worth of Tesco vouchers from an offer i spotted on MSE, followed Martins advice and converted them into 4 times their value, and used them to pay for my car service and MOT - that saved me over £200.
I wish i'd kept a list of all the bargains and tips on this site that have saved me money - but it would be far too long to post here!
Anyway, the first thing i'm doing with my spare cash is taking my amazing boyfriend out for a meal to say thanks. He's been wonderful, supportive and generous for over two years, and he deserves to be spoilt rotten.
Then, i'm going to start saving so that i can help out as much as possible towards a deposit on our first house!
Take care xxxDebt free date: October 2006 :money:0 -
