    I just received mine too.

I think these phones are brand new because it was listed in the ordinary Orange PAYG section as well as the clearance section and wasn't labelled as "Clearance". The box has been opened, however, to put the sim card into the phone.

    HTH

I see in the title all the other phones have "Clearance" except for this particular one  !

When you say the box has been opened, does that mean a seal has been broken? Is the phone supplied in a Nokia box or an Orange box?
  • mine came today , thanks to OP .
mine keeps saying sim not ready and if i read the leaflet it says you have to register the phone / sim before you can use it yet reading through here people are saying you don't have to register the sim ( re quidco) can someone just clarify this for me ? Sorry if I'm just being dim :o

These come in a Nokia box inside an outer cardboard sleeve that has 'Orange/Phones4U' on it. The seal on the Nokia box has been broken.

If you take away the outer sleeve, apart from the barcode sticker on the Nokia box and the Orange sim card placed inside, there is nothing to indicate that this is an Orange phone. If you unlocked it as in an earlier post, you will have a perfectly happy generic Nokia phone :)

The letter they send with the phone tells you that as any PAYG from phone4you the phone has been readied by their own people for you to use immediately, i.e. the sim card has been put into the phone and the phone fully charged.

This is what had happened for my phone as well. The phone looked absolutely brand new, even if obviously someone had put the sim on. The screen still had the protective film so I doubt it could have been used.

I confirm that unlocking works perfectly and you have a good general phone ready for any network (tried on Voda and Virgin and works).

    Good points for this phone:
nice colour menus and very clear functions and profiles for phoning and texting (profiles means you can easily set profile 'home', 'office', 'meeting' etc and associate to each of them different tones or volume/silence). Good agenda and easy entries. Easy slot-in sim card does not need battery removal to insert anew sim-card!

    Bad points:
lack of connectivity (no Bluetooth, no IR, no cable; there is NO way to trasfer data directly out of the phone to a PC and viceversa) so this phone will no be supported by the Nokia free data management tools (which support almost all other models). No external display (so you have to opn it up to see who is calling, no external clock etc).

Here is a good review with lots of pictures:

If you order before 13.00, it will arrive to you the next working day (so order Monday before lunch and it arrives Tuesday morning). Delivery is free.

Unless they decide to hold it for a security check which they seem to do for a lot of orders. It seems to be a bit of a con to get you to call an 0870 number just to confirm you wanted the phone.

I can confirm this. These sim cards come already activated and the phones have been registered with Orange - the commission from Orange is presumably the only way that Phones4U get any money from the sale.

To find out your new phone number, select 'Contacts' and scroll to find 'My Numbers', select this and your new Orange mobile number should be displayed. From memory, I think every new registration gets £1 free credit automatically - don't go spending it all at once :rotfl:

To turtle - that doesn't sound right. Have you tried taking the sim out and putting it in again to make sure it's properly seated? Also have you received the Orange text update, switched off the phone and then back on again?
