Help needed, no hot water!

Hi guys, can someone please help me, i have an ideal standard isar HE30 combination boiler.
It is just over 2 years old and just out of warranty.
I am having problems with it at the minute and more problems trying to get a plummer/gas fitter out to look at it.
The problem i have is, i have normal central heating, everything works fine, i also have running cold water, but nothing at all coming from my hot taps... not even a trickle.
I have been pouring hot water on the outside pipe all day but to no avail.
Anyone got any other ideas as to what the problem could be..
Many Thanks

Which pipe have you been pouring hot water on?

I think if it were a frozen pipe then your boiler would 1) be making one hell of a noise 2) eventually (within an hour stop working
I think it may well be a valve needing replaced

Condensate drain iced up probably! But if they've been trying to thaw out the PRV overflow then that will do nothing for them.

But if the CH is still working, then the boiler cannot have shut down due to frozen condensate drain?

Wouldn't a failed diverter still give a cold flow at the hot tap though?

  • morning all, thanks for your replys, the pipe which i had been pouring water on was the condensating pipe outside, however, i have got up this morning to steaming hot water all through the house.... result!!

Good, but if the condensate pipe was frozen, then eventually the boiler would lock out-you would not get DHW or CH. The fact that your CH was working indicates that something else was wrong.

Not if the incoming supply was also frozen.
