Spreadsheet formula

Hi it's me again:D

I am still working on my spreadsheet and am a bit stuck on how to work out the formular on one of my work sheets.

I have 3 columns A,B and C and would like to subract column B from column A to equal C.

If possible I would like to find a quick way to work out the whole of cloumn C without working it out by going row by row.

Thanks in advance:A

Do the first one (so C1). Then make the cell highlight (just click the cell). Click and drag the bottom right of the cell downwards. There should be a small square on the corner.

Hi, Thanks for responding to my question I just tried your suggestion and it didn't work, maybe I didn't understand fully or express myself properly.

What I am trying to do is work out C:

    A B C
14 2 12 sorry it wont allow me to space the numbers out
    10 8 2
    7 3 4

What I have on my worksheet at the moment is a long list of numbers in A and B and have not calculated it in C yet. I would like is the formula to work out C which would save me having to calculate each row- I am unsure if this is possible?

    Thanks in advance

in the first row in column C underneath the column header, say its cell C2,

type "=A2-B2" without the quotes and Enter. Then, do as lok says, and drag the formula in C2 down column C until you get to the last row :) If the cells in column C all show the right values, got it, or you may need to go into Tools > Options > Calculation and enable auto-calculate

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

    Another way

Once you have the correct formula in the first cell (C2, say), you can highlight C2, and hold down Shift, then Down Cursor as far as you want to go, then lift off Shift, and Ctrl+D to 'Fill Down' all the highlighted cells with the same formula.
