Driving license or passport. Does not matter if the person if gonna be learning to drive or not. Its an ID.
Most places dont accept any other forms around here so does depend.0 -
My son has just applied for a provisional licence. It was very quick - posted on Saturday and received the licence on Thurdsay. It lasts for 10 years. Worth while getting even if just for ID.0

The provisional is nice, but expensive. The only reason i have yet to get one.
I currently use the NUS card with the PASS scheme and haven't been turned down anywhere yet. Asda have accepted, tesco have, local pubs have... and not forgetting that it's also a student discount card, so all the usual benefits apply (discounts at burtons, next etc and thousands of other places)
If you do decide to get an NUS card be nice to a friend though, ask around see if anyone has one and get their refferal link. Additional £1 for them just for clicking their link. why not be nice :-)0 -
Thanks matj16. Already have NUS but the local pub doesn't accept it. Strange I know...0

Does your NUS card have a PASS hologram?0 -
I would say be careful about the Validate card - my OH got one as he had to send his driving license off for a while but a few pubs for example wouldn't take it even though it had the pass hologram on it....MFW 2020 #111 Offset Balance £69,394.80/ £69,595.11

I have been at uni for ~15 months now, and everyone I know here has a driving license and/or passport. Clubs and pubs here won't accept anything else in my experience, and it was the same back home.
I've had to send my driving license off to change my name. Luckily I don't drive so can't get fined for not sending it off quicker - I had to wait 6 weeks until my last night out of the term yesterday and sent it off this morning, with the stated 3 week turnaround hopefully I should just about have it back before uni starts again and avoid having to take a passport out!
I have passed my test so had one anyway, but I'd strongly recommend a driving license0 -
I have both validateuk and citizenship card. One of hte othe gets accepted as proof of age but not as ID. Passport or driving licence.0

Citizencard is only £15 and legally valid. If anyone doesn't accept it then just tell them your taking your business elsewhere and storm out
Thought for the day: each generation of mankind tends to hug the illusion of having reached the culmination of human achievement. Yet, as we scoff at our groping ancestors, so our descendants will surely scoff at us.

There's no such thing as legally valid. They can accept what they like. A pub could decide to only accept birth certificates or something if it wanted to but wouldn't have many customers.forever.insane wrote: »Citizencard is only £15 and legally valid.
