We have an 18yo who does not have a driving license yet. What can be used as proof of age which is acceptable for pubs, clubs etc?
There is something called validate UK http://www.validateuk.co.uk/ but I've never heard of it, don't know its bone fide and whether it is widely acceptable.
Any suggestions welcome!

Thanks for quick reply. How long is it valid for? (couldn't find the answer to this, it's £50 each application)0

Until you are 70 or something stupid, I think! Or until you pass
Only car like thing that expires, is your theory test which resets after 2 years if the person hasn't passed practical.
edit
from looking around on other forums, its 10 years or 65!0 -
Thanks Lokolo, provisional license it is then...0

I can't have a driving licence so have a Citizencard. It's always been accepted in the UK though I use my passport in the US.
ValidateUK is ok, basically you're looking for a PASS logo

My work does not accept anything other than a passport or a driving licence because everything else is too easy to forge.0

I'm giving another definite vote for a driving license even though it's pretty expensive.
Nothing else is worth the money! Even if it does have a pass logo on many places won't accept it. I remember a UCAS day in 6th form where people were being signed up for cards with the PASS logo on and they didn't check the DOB so lots of people ended up with a free fake ID but most places wouldn't accept it anyway.
They might have tightened up the regs on these kinds of cards now but i've still seen pubs/bars with signs saying 'passport or driving license only'0 -

Your entitlement to drive is valid until you're 70 years old. After then you have to renew the licence every year.
But the photo on a photocard licence is only valid for 10 years from issue. Renewing the photo costs £20.0 -
Obviously a driving license is ideal, but we want something in the interim. Thanks all for the replies.0
