Royal Mail Compensation

I sold some tickets on EBay for £98.00. I very stupidly sent them only first Class (Not recorded or Special Delivery) but filled out a certificate of posting and they stamped it.
The buyer is claiming that a week after I sent it he has still not received the tickets.
Am I entitled to this £98.00 back form Royal Mail?

No; you didn't use the appropriate service. Anything over £32 needs to be posted via Special Delivery or Royal Mail parcels (which is not acceptable from a PayPal point of view)0

Im afraid not.
You took the risk with a cheaper service and it has backfired. You are going to have to refund the buyer £98, and then try and claim £32 back through the Post Office.0 -
Maybe I'm cynical, but how can you be sure they HAVEN'T had the tickets and are just trying it on?0

You can't be sure either way, that's the problem with no tracking or confirmation
My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
You can't claim the £32 off the RM either, as you used the wrong service and they don't do partial refunds. Sorry.:wall:0

There is a refund service for this (happened to me 6 months ago) I got the email from Royal mail with instructions which I followed to the letter and am still waiting for a reply from them, I keep being told it's being processed, so I wouldn't bother you can only claim upto £20 however using this system.Nice to save.0

Not sure about that. Ive claimed for items worth more than £32 and they just pay out the £32 instead of the actual value. Never had one rejected yet so fingers crossed.
Bear in mind that RM will probably write to the buyer who needs to confirm non receipt or RM will not pay you out at all.0 -
If you have the ticket details, i would also contact the venue to advise them that your tickets have been stolen (if buyer has not rec'd them, someone else possibly has who has not themselves paid for them - so stolen/ if buyer has rec'd them, he is claiming that he is not and trying to get the money back therefore not paying for them - so stolen. That way,if he does try and attend the concert (or whatever it was) they will/should not let him enter. I would also advise buyer you are going to do this - you may find that they suddenly get delivered to him.
You can claim from RM, but as stated, only up to £32
There is a possibility as mentioned before that he has thought "wow, only sent first class, how does he know that I've even got them" and thought he would try it on.0 -
If you report them as lost/stolen then the venue should cancel the tickets and re-issue them. This happened to us a while back and we had to 'report' to the ticket office on the day of the concert and show some ID but at least this might help you - you could cancel the old ones and then get some replacements in your buyers name?? either way then you get your money and he/she gets the tickets..
Worth a try...........Failure is not in falling down but in not getting back up again0 -
I would defo do as the other posters suggest and speak to the venue or the ticket issuers and explain that the tickets have been lost/stolen and what can you do about it. Also advise the buyer that you have cancelled the tickets so if they do happen to 'turn up' they wont be any good as they have been reported lost/stolen - this may prompt the buyer to say they arrived this morning!Weight Loss - 102lb0
