I have not posted on here for months, I did the challenge last year and failed miserably at £3,751. But I did buy a 2nd hand car outright with the money and then lost my job. I won't make the 11,000 this year as I have only just got another job BUT I will try again next year. I have far too many bills to pay, as we are on 'catch up' from me not working, although I ebayed what I could. I don't want to set myself up to fail again so I will join you all on 1st Jan 2012.
Good luck to everyone xxx
I know times are tough but even setting yourself half the challenge or a quarter of the challenge might be a good idea. You won't be setting yourself up for a fail, because anything you can save will benefit you anyway, making you the winner over the big bad money wolf who sits on your shoulder.Hopefulwife wrote: »I have reached £6038 - i cant believe it its amazing. Just want to encourage those doubting that it can be done to keep positive and give it a 100% focus. Most of it is in the mind. I have never done this sort of challenge ever in my life but i know i will make it - there is no room for failure. I am on maternity leave, had my 1st baby 6mths ago so even without a full time income am getting there. I go back to work 1st sept.
Break your big goals into little ones . Also its hard 2achieve anything when ur energy levels are low. Recharge ur batteries by relaxing, playing, resting and sleeping.
Hopefull wife, congratulations on getting so far, and I totally agree with you. Especially breaking big goals into little ones. Hey perhaps we could have a mini challenge for this month. I don't know who normally sets them, but I'm proposing that whoever fancies it tries to make and save between £75 - £100 extra this month on top of what you would usually save. I'm going to try it. Good luck anyone else who tires too!0 -
1) I do a monthly budget and then keep an eye on each penny as it goes out like hawk - its funny really (u have to make time 2do this. after all its ur money and u have wked hard 4it. I tend to balance the books on fridays. If i budget 4something and end up not spending or spendin less, i add to savings
2) when i came on mat leave we had two cars so i sold mine - that was tough (so thats has really helped with the totals) i walk a lot with my frugalmite and i have really shed the baby weight. Love it
3) Have been ebaying a lot of stuff. List them all on sundays - Mainly sold some furniture we didnt need, baby stuff (u know when u get lots of xtra gifts ur just not going to use)
4) Quidco -have made £50 for when i took out home insurance
5) Have reviewed all my bills and huggled with the companies 2make sure am getting the best deal. my mobile contract is noe just £5pm -i didnt take the upgrade (a new phone)so they gave me a nice loyalty discount. Even after saving on mobile, gas, elec, broadband, i still budget as if paying the old amount and it makes me smile wen i collect the difference at the end of the mth and put in the savings fund
I guess u all do most of the above i dont think i have included anything amazing but every little helps i say:j:j:j:jHow Much can you save -£6038/£10000

Thank you Fredula
I have been thinking about this and I have two credit cards to get rid of. One is £2,300  and the other is £1,200. So my little challenge within this challenge is to pay off the smaller card and transfer the larger amount onto the one that I have paid off as the interest is better. And pay off the Littlewoods account (interest free) £440 all this by Dec 31st this year. So if no-one minds I will update weekly on here and I have changed my signature.
