    Hello All,

I know im a bit late in asking, but is it ok for me to sign up?
Just recently been overspending but a hell of alot so need to start cutting back and hopefully with the help i have seen from quite a few people here i might be able to start cutting it all down.
Only thing does anyone use anything to keep a check of there accounts? Like the best way of keeping a check of everything

I check mine about 3 or 4 times a day, but I think that's because I'm a bit OCD about it all :P hehe.

    Hi,
not been around for ages. got so much going on at the moment and much to keep up with. Not been doing much money making though still getting dribs and drabs from DHs gigs etc. However any extra coming in is probably going straight back out on food. lol. Elly you seem to be getting down to the £50/week that I was on and I'm going up near your £100. gulp. still me and DH have lost 11 pound each on diet in last 2 1/2 weeks. Yay.
    Hope everyone is ok.

hi jetcat my friend used the same company and got a rebate of £90 cash in hand they took 40% of total rebae .so pleased you wrote this think they use the frightener that if you are on the wrong code as in not paying enough they wont let on to the tax man, also previosly when i checked wasnt getting deductions for union subs and nurse registraion they adjusted tax code but rebate was spread over the year.can i ask what you mean by the standard 747L thanks elly.
I will check my tax code your way though and if it works out i will complain to the rcn about ripping off members as it is them that are sending out the leaflets .

Ok, by standard 747L code I meant that this year's (from 6 April) personal allowance is £7475, giving anybody under the age of 65 a starting point of 747L for the code. However, from what you are saying, your code should be higher as it should include an amount for professional subscriptions being your RCN fees (if you subscribe fees to a professional body like a Royal College or Chartered Institute you can claim these against your tax bill by having the amount added to your personal allowance, thus increasing the amount of income you can have before paying tax - you can backdate your claim, letter to tax office with national insurance number, full name of the professional body and the amount paid for each tax year will do the job, no need for a middleman who will take some of your refund in fees!) Also as someone else mentioned, anyone can claim for the cost of laundering a uniform required by work - apart from obvious uniforms like nurses/police/firfighters etc it has to have the company logo on it and be a requirement of the job. This is what is known as a flat rate expense because it is given as a standard amount for the job or as £60 added to your allowance (I think, that's off the top of my head, lol) Again, letter to tax office will do the job for you and can be backdated. The list of priofessional bodies whose subscriptions attract tax relief are on the website www.hmrc.gov.uk and is known as List 3.

Hope this helps but as I say if you have a local enquiry centre do make use, although if you want them to check your records you will need to make an appointment.
