    Hi!

I'd like to join (a little late in the game I know...)

We're saving up for our first house and just need a little more motivation, so hoping this thread will supply it!

Starting by eBaying DDs old clothes. Found LOADS of stuff, some of which is designer or was v. expensive and never worn (spoils of the first grandchild...!)

Hugs to everyone not feeling great.

Feeling a bit fed up today. Firstly last night I reluctantly listed my car on ebay for scrap. Secondly Valued Opinions have been saying for a week now that my e-mail address doesn't exist on their system even though they regularly send me surveys which I complete! I have e-mailed them three times now & apart from the standard reply of "thanks for your e-mail, our customer services will look into it", I have had no response.
Thirdly, I have just try to log into Mysurvey account & that is now saying the same thing! I only have the one e-mail address & I am doing a survey for Mysurvey at the moment whereby I have to text them every day! Sometimes, I think everything is just too much b**ody effort to just make a few extra pounds!

Dolly I'm glad that you've decided to give it a go! You will feel so much better once you feel like you're doing something about it :)
  • Thanks for the support. I just wish I had found you sooner but now I have I'm going to do something about it.
It's such a mess but one I created so I've got to fix it. The one good thing from finding this forum is knowing I'm not alone in my fight and the ideas on how to become debt free are brilliant and encouraging. So starting today I've decluttered the wardrobe, starting to think of other ways to earn money from home and I'm not giving up.

Welcome Dolly :) I am fairly new to this thread but everyone is very friendly.
I have sold a couple more bits on the local facebook sale site and another on amazon so up dated total. I have also added in amazon vouchers that i got for my birthday as they will of course be saving me money even if it is on things I might not have bought at the moment.

Welcome, you are not alone and there are many many people that have been where you are now and come through the other end. I had a light bulb moment 5 years ago and now only have 4 years to go until I am debt free, although I would love to finish in 2 years. Once you have made the first steps and admitted to your self that you need to make changes then you can find ways out of it. Have a look on the Debtfree wannabees section and on their is help and also people who have come through it.

Good Luck with it all x ;)

Anyone got any ideas how to rein in the oh? I do a spreadsheet of income and outgoings and next monday we are only going to be bout £20 in the black and thats not taking into account if we need things in the next 9 days, he has had 3 days off work this fortnight, one out of choice and 2 through illness, he whinged last night cos I wasn't planning on having a takeaway, had a kfc today and then wants to go and watch my sister sing in a pub tonight. He seems to think that as he works 6 days a week he should be able to have these things, should have said he has to have proper names snacks chocolate bars and crisps for his bate, has a crate of lager a week, has a can and bottle of shop brand red bull everyday and smokes so he has quite enough luxuries if you ask me. The reason it bothers me so much is that he totalled his car due to the ice in the winter, I am now borrowing my grandmas car so he can use mine so we need to buy a car and have no money for it. Sorry rant over but any ideas??

emmad5689 - Have you tried showing him your spreadsheet so that he can see for himself that his desires are not sustainable long term? Maybe suggesting you both have x amount of spending money to spend as you like each week but once that it is gone, it is gone? It's not easy is it, although my OH is probably much better than me tbh!
