Hi all,
We have recently moved out of a property rented through a Letting Agent and our deposit is being held for cleaning etc, despite my husband and I spending 3 days cleaning the place from top to bottom, doing gardening - you get the picture. Anyway, what i am wondering is does the Letting Agents/Landlady needed to have informed us of the work before carrying it out and charging us for almost over £1000 worth of 'cleaning' or is it fine for them to inform us after the work has taken place by a contractor of the landlady's choice?
I would be so grateful for any info about the law on this matter as I have searched high and low and can't seem to get any details about this element of it and just really we want to know where we stand.
Thank you in advance

When did your tenancy start and do you know if your deposit is registered with one of the deposit-protection schemes?0
