No retention deal for o2 access package, is that right??

Hi, been with o2 broadband on their Access package for two years, last year they rang me and gave me 3 months free. Seeing that my 12 months had run out last month I rang through to the leaving line today and said I could get cheaper broadband could they offer me a discount. The lady said I could not be offered any discount off the £17.50 price (I get £5 discount for having an o2 mobile) as I was on their Access package and I could not get 3 months free discount either. Does anyone else know if this is right and has got a retentions deal whilst on their Access package. Perhaps it is because it is the second year of being with them?? Thanks in advance, Mandy

It's because they have to pay BT to use their kit to give you bband & not their (O2)own.If they gave you a discount over & above that you are getting at present,O2 would possibly be more out of pocket as they still have to pay BT whatever BT charge them.

IIRC,it was the same deal when I worked for Sky.

IIRC £5 discount is the maximum O2 allow for their broadband deals.
