Have you never bathed a child in the kitchen sink? The obvious solution, I would have thought.

Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)
  • When my two were small, my parents only had a shower so we used to put a flannel over the plug and then run the shower to fill up the shower tray. They loved it!

Kitchen sink works every time!! ALternatively - have a shower together - you and the child I mean! We had to do this several times with both of our boys - and I'm still doing it with the youngest when he thinks he can get away with it!!! He just stands there with his head down and gets wet - then he complains when I turn the shower off when I've finished!!

Takes a while - and in the first few days it took both of us - with one standing guard just outside the door with a towel to catch him when he'd had enough or was too slippery to hold!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
  • I shower with my almost three year old every day. I would not put him in alone as he may slip but he is perfectly safe with me in there. I am sure she will be happier if she is not alone, it's worth a try and will make much less mess than a toddler splashing in a pool!
  • Holly (almost 2) hated the shower but after a week of every morning having one with me she was fine & now we struggle to get her out! Got an anti-slip mat for the bottom of the bath and she loves it!

    Hi everyone,

I'm after any ideas and suggestions you may have to help us out.
My son lives with us and his toddler daughter (age 2) stays with him/us 3days/2nights and another day within the week and, as toddlers do, often requires a full bath however she's now outgrown her baby bath. We don't have a full size bath as my OH is disabled and we have a walk in shower which obviously isn't suitable for cleaning up a toddler!
Does anyone have any ideas for a way we can bath the toddler?
    Thanks

I loved getting a "bath" in the kitchen sink when I was a toddler :)

Our two boys shower with daddy...DS1 is 4.5 and DS2 is 3 months. When DH finishes washing baby I take him and get him dressed.DS1 takes ages and ALWAYS ends his shower with "will you pass me the shower head so I can clean the window please?" when he's asked for that we know he's ready to get out.
  • There is also the possibility of sitting her on the kitchen table and washing her with a flannel. It's what sufficed for many children before the bath-every-night fashion began.

Just make sure the flannel is warm and smells nice (toddler flashback to cold flannel smelling of Shield soap there :))
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

When my eldest 3 were babies (up until they were 4, 3 and 3) I didn't have a bath, just a walk in shower. They were washed in a baby bath when they were tiny and from then on one at a time they came into the shower with me. Sometimes as a treat (or when the dirt was well rubbed in ;) ) I half filled a plastic truckle that was normally used as a washing basket with water and let them sit and splash in there. Be careful to support the side their back is at though as the sides on those things aren't designed to support and tipping IS possible :(
