Well you can start by Sorn'ing it and getting the tax back. No point letting the scrappie have it. Look in your local newspaper and ring them they then come out and pick it up. If you can drive it to the scrappie then do so but take the tax with you when you leave.

Cars like this sell on ebay for spares/repair.
  • As Quentin says might be better to sell it for spares/repairs after sorning it as you should be able to get more than £50 that way.

you should get a minimum of £100 on ebay. it will be a scrappy that buys it if its under £100. they will collect it usually aswell.

and as said don't sell it with tax,get the tax disc returned to dvla for a refund on the tax.

Taroni's or one of the many scrap dealers around the aston/nechells/dudley/west brom area.

They will collect, If they want the logbook make sure you fill the right section in and send it off yourself.
Dont let them do it in case they resell the vehicle. Bought cars from the scrapyard with nothing wrong with them.

take the car to a registered car breaker/scrappy ensuring you get an end of life cert, remove the tax and send back for a refund, only the registered keeper can get a refund so its of no use to the scrappy. you should get about £120 depending on the size.
    Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.
  • if you take the car to a ATF (Authorised Treatment Facility) they will issue you a COD (certificate of destruction) and notify the dvla that way, you will also have to fill in the part of the logbook that says about scrapping your car,
more information here (also carries a list of ATF's by area)

edit for some reason i cannot post links, if you go to the enviroment agency website and search for ATF in the top right hand box it should be the first result

most of the people in the back of the papers probably would not scrap your car

Only ATF's can remove store and dispose of the fluids and other items in cars (batterys cats fluids etc) legally for which they need a waste management licence (in regards to companies)

This system is called end of life vehicles directive

Make sure you inform the DVLA correctly (of it being scrapped) and in writing by recorded+signed for post!!!!

Otherwise they WILL hit you with a fine for more than your hoping to get for the vehicle!!

    I !!!!!! you not...

Or as we call them round here, scrappies or posh folks may call them vehicle dismantlers.
