Sorry to steal the thread but I'm thinking of an iPhone next and my question is..

Can you turn off Data Roaming but turn on Wifi and then everything be free if it picks up wifi?

Yes, you can turn off cellular data in its entirety.

You can also put the iPhone into airplane mode (ie no radio signals at all) and then manually turn on wifi - you won't be able to receive calls or texts either if you do that.

Isn't that standard with an Iphone no matter what settings are made?? ;);)

Yes, I know, but it's cold, I am getting old and past it. Been waiting for a call from a friend with new material, but borrowed an Iphone and, guess what.............................. :beer:

Am i actually expected to pay this extortionate amount and arent they completely out of order blocking my phone after four days? ? I've had no letter from them in fact right now im completely fed up with orange.

Orange implemented the EU data cap on the 1st of July. It is automatically applied to the account. Need to check if you have opted out or if the cap has been applied to your account, Even if CS say its on always worth getting it checked further

If it was the Canary Islands I don't think they're classed as EU (I might be wrong) but it could explain why the OP wasn't texted.

Just checked on Orange website and Canaries are counted as Europe Zone 1 covered by data cap
