MATH wrote:My mothball wardrobe houses my prized collection of 1980's about town wear, heavily featuring the eight pleat high-waister trouser (watch any Spandau Ballet video to refresh your memory), outrageously pointed shoes that I probably cannot walk in now and a retina burning, vivid assortment of waiter length jackets with shoulder pads you could land a plane on in various shiny/sheeny fabric that will never decompose. LOL They will come back into fashion on day and when they do I'm ready. Now where did I put that bottle of Hai Karati
I think MATH should post a picture of himself wearing this fabulous ensemble. MATH you could be our pin up! :kisses:
Lots of you have beaten my oldest item which is a pale blue Windsmoor suit jacket that I wore for work yeaterday. I can't get into the skirt any more (I think it was a size 8  ) but the jacket still looks very smart over a navy blue dress with a pale blue pin stripe. It's at least 20 years old - maybe a bit more.0 -

Quackers wrote:I have a cardigan from M & S that was my Grandads.
I pinched it from the 'charity pile' my Nan made when he died in 1987. It might sound morbid to some but its a kinda 'comfort cuddle' from him when I'm all sad and miss him. I lived with my Grandparents so he was my 'dad' to me.Although it does smell of comfort now and not old spice
Oh, me too! I lost my Nan in 1993 and have kept 2 of her cardis. She got the wool for them from the man next door but one to her who kept angora goats. Washed/carded/dyed/spun and then knitted by hand, truely Old Style. I always feel close to her when I wear one of them.WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0 -
i have a cardigan my nan bought me when i was 17 .. so that would be 1990. she passed away that year so i cant part with it, even though i dont think m&s diamond cardi's will ever be back in fashion, (were they ever ? lol ?) i wear it with my jarmies.
my dad used to wear flannel granddad style grey shirts to boarding school and i wore them both with my ski pants when they were the trendy thing to wear, (very late 80's) mum has them at home awaiting another revival, all darned by my nan, he went away to school 1954-58 they are so itchy but i thought i was soo trendy with them under a waistcoat that i bought from oxfam ! the waistcoat and ski pants have bit the dust !

I have a three piece grey pinstripe suit that was made for me by a gent's tailor in 1985. The trousers are a little tight now but the whole suit looks like new. It cost £250 when it was made which I thought was extortionate but looking at how many years wear I got out of it, it seems rather reasonable nowOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things
F U Fund currently at £2500 -
I went to Sports World this weekend to get a new pair of bargain Adidas running shoes. The sales assistant was horrified to hear that they were to replace a fourteen year old pair that were being retired from service. :cool:Good, clean fun....MFW #11 2015 £7657 / £88800

The oldest thing in my wardrobe is a very Un PC fur coat made of mushquash it was a full length coat bought by my great aunt in 1934, I had it shortened into a jacket almost 25 years ago to wear at my daughters wedding..... needless to say I have not worn it for years but cannot bear to part with it, so it hangs in spendid isolation in a mothproof bag in my wardrobe........I shall never wear it again........it is lined with the most beautiful shot silk lining and the pockets are lined with velvet........
