Wrong address on website

I am not sure if this is in the right place so please forgive me if its not.

what steps can be taken to get someone to put the correct mailing address on a website.

one particular website haven't changed the listed address which they moved out of a month ago. I am pretty sure they wont want to change it as it is much more desirable than their new one.
yes they have had the post re-directed but that is not the point

is this legal?

YES no law says you have to have show a valid email address.
If the listed address works they get the mail if it does not then its pointless .

  • we are talking about a physical address here not an email address

surely what you are saying "as long as they carry on paying royal mail the redirection charges on their post there is nothing we can do?" am I right?

what about if someone turns up on the doorstep?

Commercial sites are supposed to show full company details including the company registered address which is often an accountant's address with small outfits.

If they are showing their old postal address then they shouldn't be but I don't know who is supposed to enforce these rules and whether they'd consider what is right now only a one month delay worth chasing anyway.

Quick google throws up - http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/12/21/new_web_email_regulation/ there is probably more definitive info out there.
  • many thanks for that
sadly a one man band not a limited company & their website builder is refusing to help either.

its like being stuck between a rock & a hard place.

Yell.com have the correct address shame their own website hasn't !!

We'll see if it gets changed over the christmas period when most people are off work. Its what to do if by the new year its still there!
