    Not a claim but:

In my experience Swiftcover are a shower of !!!!!!, idiots and cowboys.

They refused point blank to forward notice of my no claims and when my new insurer contacted them they provided evidence of 1 years no claims. At the end of my year with them I had 2.

Anyway; I have been insured with 2 seperate online only companies and both experiences were sh!te. I pay more for the privelage of insuring my car with a local insurer (Swinton) and will never look back.
This place is about money saving but as far as car insurance goes I'll pay the extra so I don't deal with f'ing idiots

They have offered £1800 minus remainder of policy (£65 per month till Sept, so approx £585) leaving a total of £1215.

December's insurance payment is due on 18th, does this still have to be paid ?

Do we still have to pay them monthly insurance or is this us+them parted company and policy cancelled or what ?

Tax disc only had 2-3 weeks left on it so not bothered

Swift Cover have requested V5 and other bits to be sent to them (going special delivery once sorted)

Any wise words from anyone ?

Don't accept their initial offer. Ask them for more, send them autotrader ads for similar cars.
  • Yes, do a bit more research on what the car is worth (Autotrader and Parker's websites) and press for a better offer. Five years ago I was offered £2,000 on a write off by Swiftcover - own fault - but held out for an extra £100 without too much trouble.

OH says what they are offering is about right as he checked the cost of cars on Autotrader before they gave us a price so he had a rough idea what to expect. He's still going to ring them today though to ask bout the insurance premium side of things. He's already found his next car we think, just waiting to hear if the offer has been accepted.

dacouch - not sure why you linked to the "road worthiness" section on the F.O. website. The car was roadworthy and in good condition.

If you read the entire link it is the Ombudsman's rules on how an Insurer should calculate the value of the car
