Anyone had dealings with Swift Cover ?
Came off the road on the A69, had the choice of wiping out some poor !!!!!! in a people carrier or hitting a farmers wall, chose the wall. Car now at a 45 degree angle, under lots of snow.
Car wheels skidded on fresh snow, drifted right towards oncoming vehicle. Partner had to choose between hit a car or a wall and chose the wall. No other cars or people involved. He's got severe whiplash and currently sat in A+E with his mate. Police attended and cancelled ambulance as he said he was ok (at that time). 3 hours later and He's on his way to hospital, he was going to leave it till tomoro but is in lots of pain and his legs are nearly giving out from under him and he looks wrecked
Car is fully comp. insured.
Excess is £150, voluntary £500.
Replacement car option is on.

With a £650 excess and hire car option (Does that include at fault claims as well)?
I would expect them to pay out quite quickly to keep the costs down. As soon as they make an offer they
may also ask for the hire car back.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
His injuries aren't covered. What's the car worth?I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair0 -
Swiftcover have a wording in their policy allowing them to use pattern parts assuming the car is not written off0
-
I take it he lost control of his own accord.
What was the people carrier doing?0 -
Is the OP asking a question or just telling us about his accident?0

>> His injuries aren't covered. What's the car worth?
£3 grand I think
>> Swiftcover have a wording in their policy allowing them to use pattern parts assuming the car is not written off
What are pattern parts ?
>> What was the people carrier doing?
Driving normally on their correct side of road. Partner's car was the one skidding.
>> Is the OP asking a question or just telling us about his accident?
Asking if anyone has had any dealings with claiming insurance, having accident or whatever and insured with Swift Cover.
So far, Swift Cover have been great. He rang them this morning, everything seems ok but all depends on if car is write off or able to get fixed which we doubt. Recovery bloke collected keys so just waiting to hear any news on if they've managed to pull it out the ditch and how bad the damage is0 -
Pattern parts are non-original parts. They're cheaper but sometimes of a poor quality.0

My Dad had a similar accident last year. They paid out reasonably quickly and let him keep the hire car for the full 2 weeks. Although I think they paid out a few days after they actually said they would but nothing major.0

I am sorry to bring bad news but Swift Cover ruined my life (briefly...)
I slid into the back of someone, my fault, no problem... they car was written off on the friday of a bank holiday weekend, the assessment was made at a repair centre 2 miles from my house. I agreed the pay out with swiftcover, and requested that my car wasnt moved until i had chance to get all my stereo kit out, they agreed, said they would give me 72 hours, starting at opening time on the tuesday, which to me was fair enough. they said give the repair centre a call when it opens tuesday and just let them know. When i rang the repair centre moments after it opened on the tuesday, the car had already gone. I asked swift cover to ask the truck to return the car, no can do.
The car was taken to Doncaster (I live in Birmingham) and they said the car could not be brought back any nearer to Birmingham I would have to go to Doncaster. eventually I had to take a day off work (breakers was only open mon - fri) to get my stereo kit back (worth about £1500).
Meanwhile, they had said they would take 2 of my 3 years no claims off me, fair enough. I bought another car, got the insurance sorted, got the car home, rang swiftcover for my proof of 1 years no claims, they said i had none, and i had gone to them with none (not the 3...) so my insurance on my new car doubled...
i got my stuff off my car, sent in all the relevant documentation, and received an email saying payment had been made. checked my bank, nothing. rang swift cover who told me that it was in my bank and i should ring them as they have obviously made a mistake. rang my bank, who said they would check all avenues and all me back, manager rang me back and said he could find nothing. so rang swift cover again, and this time the girl said "oh there's an alert to say the money came back to us..." so i then eventually got my money...
I complained through the relevant channels, asked for the money from all my phone calls of complaint (£55 - and provided itemised bills), my loss of earnings for my trip to doncaster, my fuel for going to doncaster, I think i mentioned the issue with my no claims (provided proof of previous years no claims) and my new insurance increase, asked for general compensation for the 3 month long (yeh, 3 months!) experience... they offered me £15 and nothing else. I rejected it and tried again, nothing...
In hindsight i should have gone to the ombudsman, but after 3 months hassle i couldnt be bothered. i was drained from the whole experience... the car i bought was a Honda Accord, i downsized to a civic when i got my first year's no claims back this summer.
To top it off, i got a letter in December last year (the accident was in May) from the other party's insurance company saying they had no correspondance from Swift cover, and if they heard nothing in14/28 days (i cant remember which) they would sue me in the county court, which would then have possible lost me my job...
So from the bottom of my heart, good luck... I hope this gets sorted with no major issues for you0 -
GRR this kind of thing really annoys me. Why is a company allowed to ruin someones life for a couple of months while they get round to doing what you pay them to do?I am sorry to bring bad news but Swift Cover ruined my life (briefly...)

Having said that, when my dad first took out insurance with them he obviously needed to provide proof of no claims. I think for some reason he couldn't find the bit of paper from the previous insurers, so emailed them and got them to email him the proof. He spoke to someone at swiftcover who said yes that's fine, so emailed it off.
Next thing he heard 'unfortunately as you have not provided proof of no claims this policy has been cancelled.' Useless.0
