Switching on the same network
Hi all,
I am currently on T-mobile where I get huge line rental discount through redemption. Now my contract ends but the vendor, Buymobiles has another T-Mobile deal. Can anybody tell me how can I switch to that deal without losing my current number?
Many thanks,
S

if that deal if only for new customers so you cannt move direct to that deal then one way is:
move the number to a free PAYG sim then sign up for the new deal moving the number from the PAYG sim to the new contract.0 -

Thanks.
1. Does the PAYG sim needs to be on a different network or can I switch to PAYG on T- mobile itself, then switch to T-mobile contract deal?
2. Are there any time restriction etc when switching from PAYG sim?
Many thanks again,

if the deal is specifically for new customers then coming from another network may be better.
as for the actual changing of the numbers well you have to get the PAYG sim, then request a PAC from tmobile (which will either come direct fro the phone call or sent trough the post) you then call the PAYG sim and give them the PAC, it takes 48hrs to switch the number, you then need to ring the PAYG network and ask for a PAC (may have to wait for it to be sent through the post again), then sign up for the new contract give them the PAC and wait 2 days for the number to transfer.
seems a lot of effort to keep the number.
I dont think it is possible to get a PAC from tmobile now and cancel the contract, then sign up for the new contract using the PAC to port the number (simply because it is the same network).
obviously the easiest way would be to just cancel the old contract, take out the new one and get a new number.
unless anyone else knows of a faster/better way.0 -
I'm with Jayme on this one. I looked into moving my existing Orange number onto a new contract with Orange and the only way was to move it to another operator then back again and all things considered I decided to bite the bullet and just accept a new number. It was easier to let people know my new number than spend several days faffing about moving my phone number with nobody being able to phone that number in the meantime (for 'several days' read 5 to god knows how many days until it was all sorted). Not worth the hassle.

You contract has to be active for a PAC code to be valid. If you cancel the contract the PAC won't work.
What the OP is trying to do is a backdoor upgrade and won't be permitted. The only way route is as suggested move out and back, but even then they may have a set timeframe you must not be a customer to get the better deal.0 -

Guys,
I have switched to T mobiles PAYG and was forced to top up for £15. Somehow they call it care credit? what does this mean? When can I ask them for PAC ? If you are on PAYG, can you switch to any network immediately or there are some other restrictions as well?
Many thanks,

apart from we all said to move to another network and then switch back to tmobile as a new customer.
nevermind call up about the new deal and say you are new on tmobile PAYG you should still be able to get the new deal and keep your number
because you are on tmobile moving to tmobile you cannot use the PAC way.0 -

Thanks Jayme1,
Will try this and let you know.
