in all honesty, i'd have written a reply similar to what greeneye suggested and made up some hugely elaborate plot that the person had foiled. infact, i've just thought of one, but i'm going to save it should such an occasion arise.
    helpful tips
    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y

£3 on an item listed at £100+ ? I would have made a counter offer of £3279.86p

See what they said to that.

HI, I sold a games console on playtrade which was around £100, the item was new as described but the buyer has filed a dispute to get a refund saying it's scratched. I don't want it back as they've had it for nearly 2 weeks, they should have contacted me straight away if they wanted a refund rather than using it for 2 weeks. The money has already been transfered to my bank (via bacs) over a week ago, how will play.con refund the buyer if they win the dispute?
  • Xmas seems to bring the idiots out of the woodwork. Just had a customer buy one of my items and I offer every thing with free post or they can pay for 1st class signed for and next day delivery. Any way this customer bought the free post option. They have messaged me saying they need it for early next week and would like the next day delivery on the goods. I have explained that they chose the free post option and could have enhanced it to next day if they wished. What do I get but a load of verbals and the treat of negative feedback when the item gets there. I will wait till they do so and then pass the messages onto ebay.

I don't know how Playtrade works directly but there have been issues with the weather lately so the delivery might only have been recently, meaning that it took two weeks to get the item to the buyer in the first place. Or they could have only just unpacked it and looked at it.

I assume Play have a period in which the customer can make complaints to the seller, and I also assume there is a standard way in which the seller has to respond to disputes, so I would be looking up what rights your buyer has in this situation. Most of the big sites have some kind of returns procedures which they expect sellers to adhere to. In some cases this means honouring Distance Selling Regulations, which permit change-of-mind returns in a certain period after receipt, so you may have to get it back and resell it.

I can't find anything specific on the Play website though so you may be OK.

As Crowqueen said there has been issues with the mail in certain area's I just received a parcel today that was sent on the 2nd. Paytrade will refund the buyer (if the buyer returns the item) and they will then charge you. If you refuse or don't pay they will close your accountg and chase you via debt collectors etc.

Hi thanks for the replies, they received it about 2 weeks ago via recorded delivery, i have tracked it and seen their sugnature on the royal mail website. So it seems they have changed their minds and are making excuses. If i receive it back it wont be new! Would the refund take place once I received it or do they get to keep the console as well?

As Bob says, the buyer has to return the item.

A buyer who messages you a CASH offer is normally serious and interested I have found than someone who asks 'what's your cheapest price'

Don't knock offers as to them that's what it's worth, least there not time wasting asking your best price then after hearing nothing!
