Glad to hear it wasn't too bad LoopyLouLou! And glad your're back safe online. My line manager said my name in a very strict voice when he saw me replying to this thread yesterday. In my head he hadn't actually told me to stop posting, so I didn't :rotfl:

Phew.... what a relief.... I was about to go and buy some new batteries for my torch and start a search and rescue party. Starting with restuarants near you.

The occassional bit of browsing (1-5 hours/day) is essential for good productivity at work
Was the lunch nice anyway Loopy? and did you order something expensive ?;)0 -
The first thing I did when I got into the office (yes, even before making coffee!) was to come on here & see if there was a reply! Does this make me a sad person with no life?

Hi Loopy, happy you are safe and well. We will probably only hear from you again tonight. Maybe you can agree certain net time with your boss? I agreed with my boss that if I'm on hold on the phone I can happily surf the net (all calls are recorded so they can always check that out). My feeling is that if they do not want you to use the net, they shouldn't give you internet access or only access to sites that you need to do your job! Already suggested to Martin to put one of those "quick my boss is watching buttons" which change the screen to a spreadsheet. Last minute.com has got one of those, brilliant!!0

Do you log out of this site otherwise he could go in and read your posts anyway? I'm sure he would love your description of him and the recoil with horror with which you shuddered with when someone suggested it was a romantic lunch!!!!!!!!!0

loopyloulou wrote:Do you think - being moaned at over lunch counts as a verbal warning?! im confused never had one before
there might be nothing in this but take care...
It's not a verbal warning as such - but it could count as "informal counselling" so if it was to move to a formal disciplinary process, then the boss could legitimately say that you had been spoken to on previous occasions.
It's common at tribunals for employees to say that they had never been warned about the behaviour before the disciplinary process started, which isn't good practice. But have to say, not usual practice to do it over lunch so it might be a bit of a friendly warning that if you could watch text/net use he's happy with your performance
How long have you been there loupy? Is this a new job?

LoopyLouLou,
I know you have edited your original post but another poster has quoted the original one so I could still read the whole thing anyway...0 -
