Cost of having a new aerial

I currently have one TV at home which has it's own aerial on the roof and runs to the living room. I have a portable in the bedroom which normally has a pretty bad reception, I have to 'twiddle' the aerial on top for each station I want to watch!!

There is an aerial point in my dining room which has a cable running to the loft but it not attached to the aerial, it's a very old aerial so don't think it's capable of having more than 1 Tv to it.

Anyway, I think I need to upgrade my aerial as I can't get any HD channels on the 'posh' TV in the living room, and want to have cables coming down into 3 bedrooms so kids can watch TV in their rooms too. (the aerial will potentially have 5 TVs or cables running to it).

I have been quoted £350 +VAT to fit a new aerial!!!

(it's easy to get to as there is a garage roof you can walk on/put a ladder on and the aerial is on a chimney on the side of the house)

The job is to fit new aerial & run 3 cables into the loft ready for going down into the bedrooms and utilising the existing 2 cables into the new aerial. Cables won't go into wall sockets in the bedrooms as they are already decorated, I am happy just with wires going down the walls.

Hope this is all making sense!

OK so I haven't got round to getting more quotes but just want to know if this is a good quote, it seems very expensive to me looking at the cost of aerials and cables??
I am not an engineer and am no good with heights so not keen on DIY!!
Thanks in advance for any help!

Get more quotes, that seems very steep to me.

You will not get any HD Channels on your TV unless it has the latest Freeview tuner built in, or via an external Freeview HD receiver, and then it is only available in some areas.

Central london, private estate? then maybe.

Standard semi estate then a little high, if they are just leaving the cables in the loft then definitely high get some quotes from local (NOT national) firms that are either RDI or CAI registered.

Standard semi prices here by registered firms

    Aerial install £175ish
Extra rooms £45-65 each, standard finish.
    Distribution amp £35-55

    Including vat.

About right. Standard network point installation is around £50 per point and a similar job. Aerial install is a bit cheaper around here by about £50 with them supplying the antenna as long as the pole and lashing kit/brackets are OK.

Dont ever let an installer reuse the pole or brackets, the poles are one install then binned, brackets and lashings are cheap as chips, even the good ones.
The initial clamping deforms the pole at the clamping point if reused this point will be massively weakened and will fail within a very short amount of time if above the top clamp.
It would be nigh on impossible to reclamp in the exact same places if you are to align correctly.
