MAAF wants to charge me £25 to leave

Hi
I called MAAF after 10 days of calling to cancel, the speed i get is very low about 0.5 meg and they charge too much so i decoded to test vodafone mobile and its very quick, dont use the net for much at home, anyhoo they said on the phone they are going to charge mr £25 to leave and asked for my card details on the phone, i refused for a few reasons
1, didnt know or was informed about the charge before i took out the contract
2, Been with them for 2 years and see no need to charge me, they say it goes to BT and i said tell BT to send me the bill.
3, Very low speeds and nevr in a million years would ever get the 8Meg as advertised
I have an email from them now asking for £26.50 !
I will not be paying this so will see them in court! Bring it on :T

It's a standard BT charge and will be in your contract somewhere or you'll have had notice of the change.
For an easy life just pay it otherwise you'll get hassle from a debt collection agency and probably a bad credit record all for the sake of £25.0 -
Not my style, been to court for speeding fine, got off and other companies that try to screw you.
Glad everyones not like you or else we would all be skint!0 -

You were no doubt contracted to pay the charge, which you agreed to at the ouset.
it is a normal charge applied by all ISP's.
It's your choice, pay it or have the debt collectors bothering you.
Of course your credit rating will take an instant hit as well.0 -
I don't doubt that the debt collection agencies are pleased that there are others like yourself who don't read their contracts.slickmouse wrote: »Not my style, been to court for speeding fine, got off and other companies that try to screw you.

Without people like you they'd all go bust.0 -
Be interesting to see what defence they mount and what charges you bring before the court and how the judge rules on the issue .

Amazing how many people just give up, give up like the ones who were happy to pay the bank charges, give up money to everyone who asks for it? No, I've had MAAF for over 2 years they have never provided anything like the service they said they would, on the phone they ask for £25 now they email asking for £26.50 ?
You continue to cough up and never argue thats why companies make the profits you are happy to give them, as for debt collectors, I've always won there too0 -
It's in the Terms and Conditions of the service which you have no doubt read - http://www.madasafish.com/terms-and-conditions/broadband.shtml "10.7 If you terminate this Agreement at any time, and choose not to transfer your Broadband Service using a MAC code, you will be required to pay a cessation (cancellation) fee of £25.00 to remove the Broadband Service from your telephone line. This charge is applied to us by BT".“I look like Spiderman at a funeral”~ Karl Pilkington0

You asked for advice.
You got the same advice from 3 different people now.
Whether you follow that advice or go your own sweet way is entirely up to you.0 -

Begs the question why you you posted just to tell everyone you are not going to pay a bill .
As i said be interesting to see the final outcome .
