almiller, I think you're right, i'll have to decide between the pvr and the PS3 but i'm going to try and change the screw connectors to the normal ones. The ariel was fitted by a 'cowboy' (I had another post about it ages ago) and he put in the screw connectors on one tv and left the normal ones on the other - perhaps he ran out of fittings!

Thank you very much for your help. I rely a lot on techie's for help and it is much appreciated.. Happy Xmas.

What?! No, you don't have to decide between PVR and PS3 - you have to choose between TV and PS3. Unplug the aerial from the TV and plug in to the PS3, that's it. If you've got some bodged cables, goto Tesco or whatever and buy the right one for a couple of quid. The connectors are easy to change, goto Maplin and buy the right ones.

Sorry, I forgot about that bit.. I've finally managed to change the connectors. It wasn't as difficult as I'd thought. I was worried i'd be without a TV over Xmas but I tried it with the proper connectors I got from Maplins and it's all sorted thanks. It's very diffucult when hubby is an even worse numpty than me, and trying to explain it to him,was even worse then you explaining it to me!

Your screw in aerial connections sound like F connectors to me. IMO these are better than the push in type, and you can buy the push in connectors to fit into the standard tv socket.

If I were you, I would just buy a 3 way splitter, one for tv, one for pvr, one for ps3 play. (I am not sure of the setup, but if they each need an individual aerial, this may be the tidiest and easiest way)

    (couldn't find the 3 way)

Attach the 3 way splitter to the main aerial, and attach the rest. Using these splitters and f connectors should not lose hardly any signal.

Maplins will have everything you need, may not be the cheapest though.

Thanks Liam. I'm off to Maplins again today so i'll have another look. Screwfix was cheaper and I got the amp/splitter there but Maplins was the best place to have a good look at all the bits and pieces. The the F/standard socket connectors didn't work for some reason, although I probably didn't do it properly!.

Personally I find that F connectors are better because the aerial comes clean through, whereas most new standard connectors you have to undo a little screw and then connect the aerial. That is where the loss of signal occurs.

If it isn't working, it may just be kinks in the coaxial cable, or interference from the copper cover touching the aerial, something like that?

It might be worth checking online to see if you have a local independent aerial shop.

This shop is local to me, and the guys there helped me out when I installed an external tv aerial, split to 3 rooms in my house.

It's all pretty much trial and error, and what works best for yourself. Hope you get it sorted.

Thank you for your help and advice. I think i'm going to wait until after the Xmas holidays before I play about with it, just in case I mess it up again and I should have a bit more time, hopefully.
