Im on an O2 online contract but i want to keep my number, ive seen a deal with E2SAVE on O2 on the K800 Clearance.

If i port my number to Tesco mobile, then sign up a new O2 contract, can i port back to O2??

No as tesco mobile use O2 as there 'virtual' network. You can port to orange, vodafone, t-mobile, virgin, fresh, 5, 3 etc without any hassle and then port back as long as you move to pay as you go. Make sure you check the terms though as some may have terms which state that you have to stay for a certain period.

This information is incorrect. The fact that Tesco Mobile is an MNVO (Mobile Network Virtual Operator) is irrelevant.

MNP (Mobile Number Portability) allows you to transfer your number to another service provider regardless of whether you are changing network operator. You can:

    - Change Network and Service Provider at the same time
    - Remain on the same Network and change Service Provider
    - Change Network and remain with the same Service Provider

In this case you are changing service provider but remaining with the same network operator. There will be no problem porting to Tesco Mobile and then back to O2.

Note that if you take an O2 contract via e2save your service provider will actually be O2 CPW (Carphone Warehouse) and not O2 itself.

    Hope this helps.

hmmm we tried to move 5 mobiles from tesco to o2 and it was not possible as it was classed as a migration.

    So swings and roundabouts.

I ported from o2 (cpw) to Tesco mobile, without a hitch.

A migration is where you stay with the same network, but change service providers.

Tesco is not a service provider, but a MVNO. Although, you migrate from different service providers with a PAC too.

Just get the PAC and don't worry about it.

Just remember to give your PAC to E2Save at the point of ordering

Tesco still use DISE the same as o2 therefore that is why it was a migration.
