Vendors refuse to move out

Hi all,
Let me start by saying we love this house and it has taken us ages to find one we both like and feel homely in.
We put an offer in for the full asking price in March (It's now December) and as such had a survey done on the property to support the mortgage application.
However the vendors are refusing to move out as they have not yet found somewhere themselves and do not wish to move into rented accomodation.
We have tried everything including threatening to pull out but all they have said is that they'll understand if we do. We've almost reached a point of completing on another property but it doesn't compare to the original house.
We even offered to move into rented our accomodation ourselves if they'd agree to a definite completion date by next June!! but they even refused that saying they may not have found anything by then!
Any advice is greatly appreciated
Andy

If they're not going to move then you can't buy it...
If you don't like this other house then don't buy that.

You needed to ask them what their position was before you made an offer. Ask why they are moving and what sort of property they are looking for. If they are not very clear about why or the kind of property or they have unrealistic expectations then no point offering on property in the first place.RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
Time to move on I would say!0

I'm surprised that you have waited this long to be honest!
Have you got to sell anything?
If it was me I would be looking elsewhere, cant be doing with time wasters like that, and it seems that's what they are, if they were serious about selling they would move into rented.
Go house hunting again, and I am sure something better will turn up....
Life is too short to get stressed!;)0 -

So you're in a chain? If so, are your buyers just hanging around waiting too? Sounds very strange.0 -
OMG - you've been waiting since March. You are far more patient than I would have been. Do you have people buying your house, in which case what have they said?
In your shoes I would probably sell my house and move into rented, putting you in a really strong position to buy when the right house does come along. It will also remove alot of the stress of buying a new place as you won't have the pressure of a chain below you.
I would then remove the offer from the proposed house and tell them you're off to look at other houses. Tell the EA to contact you if they do eventually get sorted, but I would not hold out for it. As others have said, I would genuinely question if they are motivated sellers - in this market telling a vendor you are going to pull the offer would put them in a spin, yet these vendors appear to not care less. these people are wasting your time and will continue to do so.
Surely the value of their house will have dropped since March - so by pulling the offer, you could be saving yourself quite alot of cash.
With buying houses, if it's not meant to be, it's not meant to be - just walk away, you'll end up happier in the long run. You can't force people to sell their house.0 -
