Completely cut off from TalkTalk Web Mail

Hi,
Is anybody else having these problems? I have been using the TalkTalk free web mail for nearly a year. I was a fully paid up and happy customer but when I moved last year to new area I couldn't use TalkTalk broadband because the connection delay was going to be several weeks. I carried on using the web mail with no problems as it is such a hassle to change your email address until a few weeks ago around the time of the Tiscali problems when I suddenly couldn't log in. The error message said either my user name or password was wrong (it wasn't) and then in the past couple of weeks it now says there is a technical problem and asks me to fill in some details and they will contact me by phone. They haven't! I have no access to my main emaill account and without notice. Surely they should at least have given me notice or be looking after my personal data under the Data Protection Act. I can't phone the help desk or use the forum because I haven't got an account number. I have tried emailing the account and it says that the email address doesn't exist. Does anybody out there have any suggestions as I will completely lose touch with friends etc and not get important notifications if I can't get into my emails.

But you've had a year to set up a new email address, you must have known that they would cut you off eventually. It's only because TT is so inefficient that it's taken them a year to do it.
Just set up a Gmail account (takes 10 minutes max, then a group email to your contacts) and you will then be ISP-independent for your emails. However now you've lost your address book (did you keep a back up?) it may take you a bit longer.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Once you leave an ISP you lose your email with them unless you purchase email as a separate product .
Evidence shows that though a user no longer has any rights to use that email account often its still working many years later . What seems to happen is every once in a blue moon the ISP will remove old accounts .

Unless you are still paying Talk Talk you have lost the email account as you cancelled it when you cancelled your account that included email + free web access to your emails .Thats the way it has worked since day one .
