Hi
I've received a flyer from the Doncaster Vets4Pets offering to neuter my dog for £59 - seems pretty cheap - has anyone used them before - just wondered what you thought of them?
Thanks:)

i personally would steer clear of places like that and i go to an independant vet practice. that's just my personal opinon. these places are franchises and more interested in making money, imo.Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500

Sounds a good price, but I'd check that it includes all pain relief, pre and post op checks and the cost of a lamp-shade collar. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0

I use vets for pets for my dog and cat, not far from you either!. I paid £98 for my male dog to be "done" and it included castration post op check and medication anti inflammatory and pain killers. The only thing I didn't get was a "lampshade" collar, the didn't offer I didn't ask, and he never required one as he left his stitches alone.
Obviously every vet is different, even when they are attached to a large chain of stores. I'm very happy with their service.
£59 is cheap!

If you are on a low incoming you can apply to have reduced cost neutering try the dogs trust i think you would have to contribute about £400

I use Vets 4 Pets for my dogs and cats and always found them to be Excellent ,I have never found them pushy and last year when my cat had been shot and had to have his leg amputated they were fantastic with me .Really caring and understanding, the same vet has been at the practice since it opened I would recomend them whole heartedly :j0

Hi just google Dogs Trust..............
Subsidised neutering is available from Dogs Trust for people on means-tested benefits within certain areas.
Our scheme is available to anyone on a means-tested benefit (Income support; Jobseeker’s Allowance; Working tax credit; Housing Benefit; Council Tax Benefit; Pension Credit or a tenant of the NI Housing Executive) in any of our campaign regions; these are the North of England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We have a list of vets that are taking part in this scheme in each of these regions, and their details are available from our hotline on 0845 606 3036.
If you are on one of the benefits listed you simply take along some proof of your benefit when taking the dog in to be neutered, and the vet will only charge £30 in UK regions or £15 in Northern Ireland; the rest of the cost will be settled with us directly by the vet.
People who are not in receipt of one of these benefits, but are in need of help, need to write us a letter applying for assistance, showing proof of any other benefits they receive so we can decide whether to allow them to use the scheme or not. We consider each case on its own merits and will reply to all letters within a few days. If we can help, the applicant will be sent a letter to show the vet confirming that they are allowed to use the subsidised neutering scheme.
The address to write to is:

OP - is your dog male or female? Female neutering is a longer op than a male, and includes opening the abdominal cavity.
Regardless £69 is a good price, and I would imagine that it is a good deal because vets want pets to be neutered!
If you are worried about their standards, ask to look around. We do lots of neuters, and each animal gets treated the same as if they were an animal undergoing ga for a major op - and I am sure most vets are the same - including corporate chains!I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
