Could you imagine if you started the barbecue in this weather to cook your dinner!! The neighbours would have you committed.
It would be a net curtain twitch of epic proportions.:rotfl:
Seriously? Our neighbours would regard it as quite normal, we often BBQ over the winter. Anyway, they are used to our odd antics, I reckon if they are sad enough to watch they get what they get!
OH was out a day or two ago in his tshirt (and jeans!), clearing the snow with a leaf blower!
I find it keeps the neighbours at just the right distance:D

We had a bbq a couple of years ago on New Year's Eve but the gas was frozen so we had to bring everything inside to cook! I think that was butane gas but we've been told that propane doesn't freeze the same??0

My neighbour's directly opposite me got burgled today while they were at work, and I'm so angry, not only because there are some evil dirty thieving scumbags about, but because I perhaps wasn't quite as vigilant as I should've been because of the bl***y weather.
I did hear a noise, and went out the front to have a look. I didn't see anything, but because it was so cold, I came back in again quickly. I know I shouldn't do the "if only" thing, but if I'd have stayed out the front another minute or two, I'd have probably seen the scum making off with the loot, then at least I could've given the police a description.
My neighbour's gutted (obviously) - and whilst I can make the right noises, I wish I could rewind time!0 -
Hi
I have to go out tomorrow and buy a few essentials-soya milk, tinned tomatoes and a few other things. Won't be going out again until after Christmas. Having a fullish store cupboard has really helped.:j:)Sealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0 -

Don't beat yourself up too much, the same thing happened to me with next doors. I did get a very vague description as I saw the back of them as they left, to be honest the police didn't seem at all interested.
I guess its an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure.0 -

Even it looks a bit weird to the neighbours, me & DD will be able to eat Xmas dinner, albeit consisting of breast fillets, jacket potatoes, peas and sweetcorn, even if everything modern stops working.
Hi Jojo,
You're so right, who cares what the neighbours think. Oddly enough, we're planning a BBQ for New Year's Eve, just for something a bit different.
We camp a lot, so we have our camping stove, and a few of the canister type one's knocking around in the understairs cupboard in case of emergencies. Also the very necessary whistling kettle. The emergency kit has already been pressed into service once this year.
We're hoping that the electrician can fit the new oven on Thursday. I'm concerned about trying to cook the Xmas dinner in a new oven, but have no choice *sigh*
If all else fails, we'll have beef and I'll cook it in the slowcooker with boiled veg.

Paulie's Girl,
Just go for it with the new oven, you probably wouldn't think twice about it if you were on holiday and using a different oven. It will be fine.0 -
I did order some yaktrax for my mother for christmas... gave them to her yesterday
DD1 sent me mine 2 weeks ago, really fantastic,so thoughtful of her.

snow has taught me how unprepared the southwest is for snow, it was the same last year, roads closed, deliveries stop, buses stop, this is for about 3/4 inches. luckily i was more prepared with the likes of food and milk, but have left some important xmas pressies til last min, so looks like i may be walking into town with socks over my bootsOne day I will live in a cabin in the woods0
