  • You miss one point. The relationship between consultant & candidate is based on trust.

How do you deduce that I missed this point? That is the whole reason for my post. I TRUSTED my consultant and told him the company that had offered me a job role. He then stabbed me in the back, which resulted in trust completely lost on my part.

    Oh well.

    What a !!!!!! they were.

Did you put in a complaint?

Are they a member of REC?

How about an email to one of the directors CCd on the REC email?

Trust me. That is few & far between.

However, I would be disappointed with that consultant if they didn't have 4 CVs for each job sitting on the desk with the candidates semi-primed waiting for the second you decided whether or not you were taking the position already offered.

I would also be annoyed if they also did not call the employer in role 2 after you accepted & said hello & state they were sorry they missed out on the opportunity etc etc

But there is no excuse for endangering the employment prospects of one candidate to make a few quid on another.
    Not Again
  • I recently went for an interview for a role through an agency (company 1). I also went for an interview for a role which I found myself (company 2). Both called me back for second interviews however company 2 offered me the role before I got to the second interview for company 1. I delayed giving them an answer and went for the 2nd interview with the other job.

That afternoon, I called the agency and said that I would need an answer that day as I had been offered another role and had to also give them an answer. The agent asked me where the role was so I told him. Within one hour, he was on the phone to company 2 to tell them he had a number of candidates suitable for the role they were trying to fill

Luckily, I knew someone at company 2 and she knew that I was using this agency so she told me. I called them and accepted their role and emailed the agent to tell him that I didn't want his role and that I knew he had called!!

This is just a little warning to others who are using agencies - do not tell them ANYTHING that they do not need to know. They are ruthless and will stab you in the back.

your lucky getting a job be thankful you got offered one not slating agencys because they are trying to keep their work to be able to keep the agency running to help people find work they are only open because of business paying for their temps!!!
    to be happy

Did the Consultant call you back to tell you the result of the interview with company one?

Yes, I am very lucky to have a job. I am also lucky that I saw the dagger flying towards my back from the agency direction.

No. When I found out what he had done, I emailed him to say I had accepted the other role. At that point, his client had not made a decision.
  • As for your personal comments, it is really of no consequence to me what you THINK you know about me. Happy Timewasting while you try and work out the personality of someone you will never meet!

The same could be said about every post you have ever made to other users on this forum.

    Thanks ..
So you went for 2 jobs ? one through the agency and one you sourced yourself
The one off your own bat offered you the job , but you still waited for the second interview through the job agency before accepting their offer?.
You then (after holding back on accepting the job offer from company number one) attended the second interview through the job agency after which you phoned your consultant and insisted you needed a response to the interview with company 2 that same afternoon?
If job number one was so acceptable , why did you then attend a second interview for job number two through the agency?
You tried to hold the agency to ransom and it back fired on you. I think you told the agency you would accept the offer from the company you sourced yourself if you did not get a satisfactory response from the company the agency had put you forward to and you insisted on a totally unreasonable deadline for this.
TBH you stamped your foot and insisted you wanted to know that day if you had been successful or not!
You really are taking the ***...

I don't see it like that at all, the OP had 2 outstanding applications on the go at the same and wanted to know if a decision was made on the agency role which they had not yet done so.

The point of this thread that you are missing is to highlight the dirty underhand backstabbing tactics used by some agency recruitment staff .In this case they tryed to worm out information regarding the OP's other role for their own personal gain by trying to recruit their own candidates for a job that was already filled.

The key point is 'SOME' agencies.. not ALL agencies , some Consultants .. not ALL Consultants and that is where the OP has made the big mistake.
The OP after attending the second interview for the job through the agency seems to think that the agencies client should make a decision on the same day as the interviews were held.
Sadly it really is not their concern that one applicant may have another job offer in the pipeline and no matter how much she needed an answer the consultant cannot force the client to make a decision.
I still have a feeling that she gave the consultant an ultimatum .. tell me now or I will go work for ...
