Thanks Jay, do I need to put an unused sim in to do it ? And then do I take it out to put in the pay as you go sim I want to use permanently ? Sorry a bit dim when it comes to techie stuff !!
and... when I try to enter the code it won't let me add letters ( pw ) am I being dim again ? this comes up as 79 when I type it in ! ?

Hi,
I'm trying to unlock an Orange phone to get use of this 4 for £40 with Virginmedia. I've been given an unlock code of *pw+4267674442+1* which I input, a message came up on the phone saying that it was unlocked......but alas, it's still not accepting the Virgin sim card. Any tips please?

The model & IMEI number? IMEI number should be 15 digits, type in *#06# or look under the battery.
