BTVision does have some HD stuff, we've had it now for a week. It's not bad, we have a fairly naff internet speed so we get the off freeze but it performs a lot better than SKY where our signal would vanish everytime we got some bad welsh weather. We got a good deal with everything but sport for £17 a month. I love it, I've spent the past week finally watching all the Dr Who series I missed, the ability to just sit and watch whole series of tv shows at your own speed is brilliant.

Big downside of BT Vision is that you are dependent on a good internet connection - most people find Sky or Freeview signals a lot more reliable !!:rotfl:
  • Thanks for all the suggestions.

As I see it, as I am moving to a new property I am unsure about the quality of internet, Freeview & Freesat signals. So I am thinking that I would be better off accepting Sky's 50% off offer and once I am settled cancel after checking the afore mentioned.

As to the future, if money was no object I think I would get a new Samsung TV with the iPlayer and Lovefilm feeds as well as a Humax Freesat box with PVR - I know it duplicates the iPlayer feed but I would then have subscription free TV and films on demand.

But if you move with Sky, then surely that commits you to a further 12m minimum contract?
If there is a dish and a line of sight at the new property, then you can get a signal from Freesat and Sky-same satellite.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

They said that to stop me leaving, they would effect the transfer and reduce the cost by 50% for 6 months and there would be no new contract, so that I could still leave after 6 months, but I will check
  • Provided your current equiptment & the dish at the new house are working you could do the Freesat from Sky option & then go BB & Phoneline from whoever you want.
This option would let you see if Freesat offers enough for you although with this option Sky still want £10 per month for the Sky+ function so if you definately want this feature in the long run it would be better to buy a Freesat HD that can record etc.
