I think UK ones say something along the lines of 'Unauthorised copying, public performance or broadcasting is not permitted'.
But as the person who asked FACT above says, they're never going to find out you did it as long as you don't distribute the copies, so why should they be bothered about it, and it's never stopped me from making my own compilation CDs, putting music onto my iPod etc...0 -
It's all covered in the EUCD. Fair use rights went a long time ago, making it illegal. As mentioned above though, if you're not distributing, then you should be fine."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0

Yeah ripping CDs is technically illegal, doubt anyone will get done for it though..?!
I find it weird that people buy iPods and use iTunes and then complain about the restrictions. Just dont buy an iPod or use iTunes - problem solved! I must be a genius. Plenty of better (legal) alternatives.
Or rather Apple's marketing department is genius as it manages to flog inferior products for a greater price with extra restrictions - simply by telling people its cool. Still, each to their own, doesnt bother me, just find it weird.

Or use an iTunes equivalent like Winamp.
Or use Rockbox, an open source firmware over the standard Apple one that adds much more support and features.
Or get something like a Samsung Z5 or Sandisk Sansa e200."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

I do't have an Ipod but do use ITunes. The reason is that, after doing some admitidly non exhaustive tests, ITunes had the best selection of the more obscure things I wanted. I haven't found a better alternative yet. But if there is one I would gladly use it.0 -

A reminder of why I don't own an iPod or have anything to do with DRM.
I buy my CD's, rip them and play them on my phone, portable MP3 player and my MP3 car stereo.
No limitations, no problems and no rip off iPod to line Apple's pockets.0 -
/. has a interesting take on it.. http://apple.slashdot.org/apple/06/10/25/1246226.shtmlEver stop to think and forget to start again?0

Ironic isn't it, that most music download today is inferior to cd's, a technology that is decades old.
Hardware (speakers, amps etc...) is only getting better yet we seem to be taking a step back in terms of the actual music."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
*** Board Guide Note ***
Hi
I've deleted some posts from above.
A reminder that it is not allowed to discuss how to remove copy protection on MSE.
This incluedes any method where you start with a protected file, and end with an unprotected mp3.
Unfortunately many times just asking if doing something is legal involves discussing ways to remove the DRM
many thanks0
