Radio 2 Broadcast

Martin spoke on todays (20/08/04) Jeremy Vine show on Radio 2. Mention was made of a product from Abbey in which you could invest £2500 and you would 'double' your money.
Unfortunately I have no more information than that. If anyone could clarify the exact product and the timescale over which you could 'double' your money then please respond.
I did contact radio 2 directly but they had no information on todays show.
Many thanks

I think you may have misheard. From what I understood Martin explained to the caller that he would double his INTEREST if he moved his money from his current savings account which was paying something like 2.5% to the Abbey ISA which pays 4.8% interest and he wouldn't have to pay the tax on his interest either.
See http://forum.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=ISAs;action=display;num=1080787079v for more info on the Abbey ISA
Hope this helps clarify.

Good question. Totally correct answer! Thanks Stitch for that

(and the national savings investment was 3.05% taxed and abbey is 5.1% untaxed (currently) hence the doubling of interest
)

Thanks for the praise Martin. I have impressed myself. Heard you on the car radio driving into town with both children talking to me at the same time about different things. ;D
Unfortunately this was the only bit of your broadcast I heard. :'(
Thanks for a fantastic website. Stitch
