Advice on upgrading from freesat, please.

Both my house & my father's have had freesat for years and we've been very happy with it. Now he would specifically like the Discovery channel, so has asked me to look into costs, offers etc to get a simple Sky package. Obviously he already has the dish and will need a new box to get the Sky+ recording facility, at the moment he can't record anything.
But having had nothing to do with Sky, I would like to tap your collective experience on how to get the best deal. Thanks.

Are you sure you're talking about Freesat, which has only been available for a couple of years? If you want to record Freesat you just need a Freesat PVR and a twin feed from the dish.

Yes, Freesat from Sky, a one off payment and more channels than I have time to watch, including Channel 5 which I couldn't get previously. Not sure how long we've had it, but it's several years.Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.0
