jcr - thats brilliant :j Really want to have a go at that but not this year..........already dismantled some old beads for a few this year but I'd love to do one for myself.
Where do you get the metal bits from to hook the buttons to the chain ? Sorry don't know tech.speak for these things.............lol and where's somewhere cheap and cheerful to get buttons from ? I'm running out of anything colourful now and OH looked in the charity shop to see if they'd got some oddments in a jar and they were shut due to the weather.I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

you can use oval jump rings. such as the ones on the link. size depending on what you need.

i sometimes use jumprings, but personally i prefer to use wire and make a loop and twist.
similar to this.

i first started making jewellery when i was 13, and 16 years later for me i've found this the eaiest method. but i know some jewellery makers hate this way. Just fiddle and play. some of my best items i've made have come from experimenting,lol.0 -
jcr - I did my handbag charms this year using wire and twisting and found it very fiddly and not easy with my old fingers. Jump rings look like a better option for me but I've still got some wire -maybe with buttons it wouldn't be as fiddly as beads.
Just need some buttons now..............had a look at a few craft sites but arent they a price ? I suppose I've been spoiled using up mums old buttons and grabbing the odd mixed bag from the charity shop.
Just have to keep my eye out once the snow has gone.:)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

emiff - I like the idea of a weather rock.........any chance of any pictures of it or where I'd find one...........or maybe I could google it.
Need to get new batteries for my seldom used camera, then I'll post a pic.
Edit: mary-op, just read your next post and see you've found a pic already
If I'm over the hill, where was the top?0 -
