should I move from Voda to Tesco?

I'm a SIM only 30 day contract customer with Vodafone and have been for more than 2 years. For £15 pm I have 600 mins, 3000 texts (don't use them) and no data.

Tesco Mobile currently has an offer for 500 mins, unlimited texts and 500mb data for £10 per month on a 30 day contract. (they misleadingly advertise this as 'unlimited data').

I am trying to get Voda to include 500mb data on my plan, but they either want me to move up to 12 months (no) or they down my minutes to 300 pm. That would be ok most months but not all.

I am not working, although OH is, so I did once suffer the humiliation of failing an O2 £15 pm SIM only credit check - I sailed through Vodafone's. So I am wary of being refused a tenner a month credit check by Tesco!

Voda retentions said Tesco mobile had been having a lot of line disruptions and problems during the last month due to overloading the O2 network. I took this with a pinch of salt, but is it true?
I would prefer to stay with Voda if they would match the deal or at least give me 500mb data. They currently charge 50p a day for data so I end up not using it. Next year I will have to upgrade my phone and some data would be very useful.
(don't use Facebook, just web browsing, checking train times, movie times and email - and if I had a better phone, the odd youtube clip).

thanks for any advice.

switch to the better deal it is only a 30day contract so is super easy to switch to a better deal anytime you want, yes o2 have had some problems but that was ages, if not years, ago.

but the tesco deal only says it has free data for the first 3 months: http://www.tesco.com/mobilenetwork/twocolumn.aspx?page=107 unless you have a different deal?

    this is the link http://www.tescomobilepaymonthly.com/sim-only-deals/

the T&Cs refer back to the home page. Something I will have to check.
They did say on the phone that the £10 would not increase if you sign up by 31 December. I didn't ask about the data
They also have 50 countries you can text for 10p.

Anyone know at what stage they do their credit check as you have to first buy the £10 SIM, then ask for your PAC code, then wait 48 hours.
Their CS is a bit more chaotic than Vodafone.
I was just wondering if they were maybe struggling as O2 has O2 customers, Tesco and Giff gaff?

still hoping for a reply from any Tesco customers on whether texts go through, calls drop, network is unavailable?

Voda's response to my request for a better deal for £20 a month (what I pay with the intl text option & have done for 2+ yrs) is to just email to say we will send you your PAC code so you can move to Tesco Mobile.

Im on Tesco, have been for over 1 year now. Never had an issue with calls dropping or texts not sending. Sounds like a Vodafone scare story as they cannot get anywhere near that deal!

BTW the credit check is done at point of sale so you dont have to buy the sim first.

I say go for it, its only 30 days.
