The Power of Football!

Just looked at my fund prices.

In just three days (since end Nov) Neptune Russia and Great Russia has gone up 7.6%. Over 4% in just one day since they got the World Cup.

Never really liked football, up to now.....

Nothing to do with football and everything to do with corruption and the role of organised crime in every aspect of Russian life. And that is why I wouldn't invest a penny in the Russian market.

As I hold that fund thats good news. I did wonder if it would have an impact when I heard they won the bid but I was expecting it to be nearer the time not now!!

So if corruption brings 7.6%, how much would I get if they become 'straight'?

    Well done!

Sounds like Bendix might buy some for his "Ethical Porfolio".

Had they been straight you would have got nothing as they wouldn't have won the world cup.

Joking aside, my personal view is that it's an awful market in an awful place. They've replaced tyranny by the czars and tyranny by the commies with tyranny by the oligarchs and !!!!!. I spent two weeks there on business last year, and wouldnt touch the place with a bargepole. I have some money in a BRIC fund, but that's all.

Well done on your gain though.

I knew sticking everything I own in an IBEX/PSI tracker was a bad move

I'm waiting for the Phnom Penh Stock Exchange to open. Now that's a market I'd be interested in following.

    Seriously.

.......... and isn't it strange, because I looked the night they 'won', they started the climb before the FIFA announcement!

But it's nice that the re-purchase I made at the end April - having sold to use the CGT allowance - has just climbed out of the red for the first time. I was saying to the OH ..... the profit from now will pay for the increase in our gas price as they turn the screws to pay for the stadia
