UK Online - beware

Hello.
In another thread I asked about possible cheaper solutions for unlimited broadband, as I was moving from UK Online. I had paid £29.99 for 8mb/s broadband, which was the best offer at the time, but has since been capped to 5.5Mb/s.
Anyway, I've tried since the weekend to contact UK Online for a MAC code.
Firstly their customer services department, (which they say is small) is only open from Monday to Friday, 9-5, which you wouldn't know unless you look at their site. Their switchboard has gone, so you're on automatic hold once you call.
Secondly, anyone who's used UK Online should know about their horrendous waiting times. It took six tries over four days to get through, and here's what happened yesterday:
12:08 - Call Start (put on hold)
12:31 - Got through to technical support.
12:33 - Rather half-arsed representative directed to Customer Services.
12:33 - Someone cut the call off!
12:34 - Call Restart (put on hold)
12:50 - Got through to technical support.
12:54 - Kinder representative directed to Customer Services.
13:06 - The usual "speak up, can't hear you" CS representative, not putting up much of a fight.
13:08 - Put on hold while engineers arrange for MAC code to be sent.
13:13 - Told MAC code would be issued via e-mail in 5 days. End of broadband month is on the 27th!
13:13 - Call End
I've already cancelled the payment, but it looks like I'll be without broadband for goodness knows how long. Things like this makes me want to go back to AOHell.
Anyway, just beware.
