Hi
I have antivirus virus on my computer. I have used superantispyware portable and it didnt detect the virus only a few cookies. I have also managed to run a full macafee scan in the background but it doesnt seem to have helped. I cant download anything directly to the comp as the virus blocks it. Any ideas?
Thanks

http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
if it will not install then run rkill first
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/rkill
it kills known malware processes for you
once you get Malwarebytes to run , update and do a full scan , then post the log file it producesEx forum ambassador

It keeps trying to tell me that my computer needs to be protected and I need to download its software. It also opens web pages either selling viagra or !!!!!!! It says mcafee is affected and all internet progs. Can i download one of the other virus checkers onto another computer like I did before and use the usb?0

Can you ask a friend to download for you and put software on a USB pen?
Malwarebytes might be able to help but like superantispyware they are not virus detectors but for Malware/Spyware.
Could try Avira/Avast or AVG but not sure if they are bootable from a pen drive.
Sure someone soon will come along and clarify.

And when clean please uninstall the woeful McAfee and install a decent AV program. Avira, Avast, MSE or Kaspesrky (all free, the latter with Barclays online banking) will do the job so much better. No free lunch, and no free laptop

You stated in brackets 'on another computer', which is what I was agreeing to.
If it was on your own computer it wouldnt make any sense to put on a usb stick.:idea:0
