Hi everyone
This is a very basic question by a very untechie Mom, but can someone please explain the difference between the xbox core sysem and full system. My kids are really getting into gaming and I'd love to treat them.
Thanks
Kerry

Here is a breakdown of the differences http://www.360maniac.com/2005/11/23/difference-between-xbox-360-core-and-xbox-36o-preimum/
The biggest difference is that hard drive which is required to save game progress, and if your kids are really into gaming (and sure even if they weren't!) they'd want to do that!Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -
Do you no longer have the ability to save to memory cards?
I don't see the point of selling the version without the Hard drive at all if this is the case - Is it just a ploy to get a cheap version on the shelves.
I have a PS2 at the moment & am still constantly changing my mind about getting the new xbox or waiting a while.
I'm thinking the price will probably drop after xmas before the PS3 arrives.

Can I just say we have just sent our second XBox 360 back to microsoft, after another fault. Just be wary about spending so much money on something. Check out the Xbox forum

the xbox core pack is just the console and controller.
the preium pack comes with xbox console, wireless controller (takes 2 aa batteries but they do last a good few months) the ethernet cable to contect to your internet router so they can play online(one month included free but the ability to download demos and updates is always free) the headset to enable you to talk to other gamers, and the hard driver(HDD) which enables them to save where they are in a game and also to download demos to(cuts down on cost if you can try before you buy as most games are about £40 from play.com etc....)
i got the premium package and have had no trouble with my machine at all. just make sure you give it enough space to breath as it gets very hot if its cramped.
if your not goning to go online with the machine it might work out cheaper to get the core and a memory card/hard drive separetly.0 -

It's a cable that joins computers to a network, so if you could plug the xbox into a router to give it access to the internet.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -

an ethernet cable links the xbox to the pc or router so you can play on xbox live. these cables are commonly used to network pc's (or macs) together or to a router0 -
You can purchase the hdd at a later date if you want, but it's cheaper to get the full system. Having wireless controllers is great to, no more cables to trip over and the range is fantastic. If your kids have any of the original xbox games that are compatible with the 360 then you'll need a HDD as the 360 needs some new files to get them to run properly. Being able to download and play demo's is a great feature which could save some money in the long term by ensuring a game is good before purchasing. Go the full system0

Game have a good deal in store at the moment -
360 Premium c/w 2 controllers and 4 games(2 of which were selling seperatly in store for £50 each) for £340.
Seems to me like the best deal you will get this side of Christmas - ive just got it myself a couple of weeks ago.
The system is great, and you should have no problems regarding reliability as long as you keep the box in a well ventalated place - ie not in a cabinet.
I would definatly go for the premium over the core.0
