Thanks to you both for the answer. But was it only for people of state pension age?

No it was not just for people of State Pension Age, it was for those on other benefits as well like IB, DLA, CA etc.

If you were on long term IB when the bonus payment was given, yes you should have qualified automatically and been paid. Check your bank statements for Jan-March 2009 and if nothing on there then would be worth contacting the DWP about it.

I had thought it was just for pensioners, but my memory on it is hazy so Kx-MX could well be right.

The relevant pre-budget report can be found here if you have the time and inclination to plough through it and check what was said at the time

    http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/20100407010852/http://www.hm-treasury.gov.uk/prebud_pbr08_repindex.htm

The bit about pensioners is at the start of Chapter 5 ('pay £60 to all pensioners in the New Year which is equivalent to bringing forward the April increase in the basic State Pension for a single pensioner to January.') but other qualifying benefits may be mentioned elsewhere in the document

The £60 was paid to everyone who also received the Christmas bonus, even my sons on DLA received it

Just as an aside emskyxxx check if you'd be better off coming off ESA and your partner claiming IS instead. You're normally better off this way when one of you is claiming CA.

This is because there is no disability premium paid with ESA but there is with IS

Thanks for all your answers and I will take a look at that archive document. One more thing, can anyone remember when it was that you recieved the payment? I mean like what month it was it will make it easier for me to identify the payment to dwp incase they don't know what i'm talking about or if they play dumb.

BTW thanks everyone as this is something i'd never heard of and its worth chasing up if I did qualify at the time. It wasn't until earlier today when I saw someone mention the £10 christmas bonus that I went to the dwp website to check wether or not I qualified for that and I do (I think) but never recieve that either. I gave them a call this morning and the lady told me that she thinks I should get it but she said she would have to send an email to payment delivery services so they could investigate why I never recieve one of those. If they get back to me and say that I do qualify then I will hopefully get this as well but don't know. I only have elecctric fires here so any extra money that i'm entitled to would be welcome.

It was around the start of 2009. I think they started in January and the last people were paid in March / April 2009.

this was for the year 2009 only, no plans for this year.

sorry does not seem that long ago!!!

No general election this year = no extra payments.
