HDMI question answered, I do hope you're using one now, and RGB is the colour system being used on your SCART output. You usually choose between RGB and Composite (also sometimes called PAL). RGB is better quality as the colours (as in Red Green Blue) are split up. TVs (and VCRs, PVRs) often only have 1 SCART that can do RGB, so it's worth trying both, and of course checking the settings. Anyone with a Sky box, for example should do this.
  • HDMI cable connected between PVR and TV and working.

How do I connect my DVD Recorder to my PVR, so I can record from the PVR ?

  • Thanks for that debitcardmayhem.

I want to be able to put some of the stuff on the Hummy onto DVD.
I know I've got a fair bit of hard drive to mess with, but recently moved from a 100 hour memory Hummy, and wasn't able to download any of the recorded programmes.

  • To be able to move it to DVD you have to "watch it" first ie play it with the Hummy and I don't know if it will let you copy without, plus I don't think if the Hummy will play out through the VCR socket, don't have my manual with me here. There are other options though for getting it off either using USB (sticks/Disks) or via FTP but that is a bit more involved, I have copied stuff from mine to this using both methods, some of the HD channels are encrypted too (I think it is only BBC HD , not BBC1 HD) and may not play elsewhere.

The media list shows which recordings are encrypted (ENC over on the right of the entry). I imagine this will have been hacked by now anyway so 5 minutes on google would spill the beans.

baby-mechanic - I gave you the PVR - DVD connection in post #7. Hopefully you've got it sorted now. Humax WILL play out over the VCR SCART, but the TV SCART might be higher quality as explained above. The only stuff that can't be recorded AFAIK is HD stuff which has a 'flag' on it saying it can't be copied. There's no way to copy HD stuff off anyway, and you're going onto DVD, so it's not an issue. Encryption isn't an issue either, IF it's encrypted, the player of course is DEcrypting it anyway to put the picture out through the SCART socket.

  • back in the land of the living, Just !!!!

Set up the leads as suggested, eventually worked out how to get the DVD to display on the TV, and then managed to work out which channel on the DVD corresponded to the Hummy's output, and successfully recorded something to the DVD from the Hummy.

    Thanks to all !!
