When I went to mr T on Sunday all the tins of baked beans at the front were badly dented. I had to forage at the back of the shelf for an un damaged one.
I don't buy dented tins because i always worry about the health risk although they are probably better made now. Who remembers when supermarkets sold dented tins and cracked eggs reduced? Worrying to think how many people could have got ill!
  • When working abroad, we used to brew our own beer and wine. I had explosive yeast growing in my yogut maker, and supplied the local beer and wine makers with dynamite. I always explained to them to put all the sugars in at the start, and not to add any, at all during the eating process, which turned sugar into alcohol.

Unfortunately, my boss at the time did not heed the very good advise I had taken the trouble to tell hime, and he added sugar to his wine.

He arrived for work late, after a change of clothes and cleaning of his kitchen. The wine, I am afraid was everywhere.

    Glad it's not just me.
I went into my son's skip (sorry, room) and found an almost full but out of date bottle of fruit juice.
As the bottle was bulging I went to slowly and carefully open it over the sink but as soon as I touched the lid it flew off leaving me, the window, the sink and the dog all covered in fermented fruit juice

  • I always forget to open yogurt pots away from me. The result is always splattered yogurt on a (usually) dark coloured top. And I never learn...

So, I'm not the only one to have had this kind of mishap.

I always buy up the tins from what I call 'the bashed box stand' in our Supermarket - as long as there's no marks of liquid/rust on the sides of the tins :rotfl:.

Now have visions of exploding dumplings or similar!
  • Dented tins!! Reminds me of my lovely, funny, late, dad. Whenever my mum put his dinner on the table he would look up at her and ask
" this from the bent trolley?":)

I love tuna in sunflower oil but in all the years of eating it I have yet to master draining it without spurting tuna juice everywhere. It's one of life's little mysteries.
