Anyone heard of MBK finance?

Looking for a little help if at all possible.

Hubby is looking at buying a new car, but because of our credit history it's proving a little difficult, however he came accross this website http://www.mbkfinance.co.uk/, they offer finance on many makes of vehicles, they ask for an upfront deposit after choosing the car you want, then they organise the finance and delivery of your chosen car...my hubby e mailed them and asked them about his past credit history, they said they don't do a credit search only checks for status ie to make sure you live where you say you do and as long as you can afford the monthy payments that's all they require! This all sounds a little too good to be true to me, anyone every heard of them or even had dealings with them?

  • this is what they are likely to do
    1)take your deposit
    2)not deliver a car
never pay an upfront deposit for finance.

Actually, after spending a little more time on that website, I have to say that it is one of the dodgiest and poorly constructed efforts I have ever seen.

He could not be bothered to even finish his blatant copy & paste exercise for all of the brands that they claim to offer.

They also mention that your car will come with 12 months' Road Fund Licence.

    Um. Road Fund Licence?

Didn't all traces of that disappear fifty years ago?

Tbh - it may be worth having a discussion with them as it could be a genuine site. But I certainly haven't heard of them.

Edit - I've had a deeper look at their website. If you want to go ahead then I'd advise getting a lawyer on your side! It is really weird. They may just be naive, but it really is mince!

Road Fund Licence is just another term for car tax.
I agree with others and would stay clear of this site.

I have to say i'm inclined to agree with everything that's been said, I too noticed the rather strange telephone number, and the fact that they offer free delivery on all orders over £49.99..... I knew deep down that this site was dodgy, too many anomolies...just wondered if anyone had had dealings with them, will be stearing well clear!

A warning to others out there and said so many times, if it looks too good to be true, then it most probably is!!

Small point but relevant............there's no sign of a Consumer Credit Licence being held by this business according to the OFT website.

How did you come up with your username smartlee?

Smart you are most definitely NOT!

Of course you could be trying to spam but you aren't good at that either.

I would like to thank everyone for there lovely comments about this company, it is funny how everyone seems to know so much about us, without having ever used our service. Ok so our websites not brilliant, hands up!!! and it says 999999 at the bottom of the page, but you forgot to mention that we do list our number twice on that same page. We are not web designers, but what we do, we are very good at! We answer all our phones calls and reply to emails. Why don't you people put your money where your mouth is, and try our service and see if we can deliver what we say we can!!!!! As you say our checkout is protect by fraud, so what you got to lose!!! Then you might be able to write something positive!!!!! Thanks again!!

Well you might like to start by reading the Consumer Credit (Advertisement) Regulations 2004 (shortly to be replaced by the 2010 version) and start quoting the terms, APRs, total repayments and typical examples of your finance offerings, as required by law.

Could you also confirm that you hold a Consumer Credit Licence?

Offering credit is a serious business and you should start demonstrating that you are both licenced and competent to do so, otherwise the types of comments on this thread are only to be expected and are potentially fully justified.
