The bleakness, forlornness. The voice, which has now gone up 2 octaves (nearly lost it). The desperation of the look. The old keeps 'rounding things and people up', like a human sheepdog.... like they're making some 'final nest' around themselves. And the unrelenting repeated TV of old shows. And ... it's just the look. Beaten down, forlorn, bleak.

And the phenomenal weightloss (50 pounds in about 2-3 months; 20 pounds in the last month).

    And the sunken face/cheeks.

And that haunting forlorn look - it's in the eyes.

awwww...feel bad i missed your posts last night.... hope you managed to get in touch with the M's today even if they feel a little better, for a future time.
I had a quick look at the forum on their site and, though not busy, people post quite frequently on it and plenty of helpful responses.

Have you spoken to the siblings yet?

LIR and the cars...we have that too as they come into our cul de sac thinking it's the lane for the woods. Steamed up windows indicates whether they are 'maybe' theives or 'other'.:)

I take it the peacocks eggs are still 'go'?

    + Congrats to Silvercars son.

DD got her 1 yr secretarial course diploma whatsit with distinction today and has decided she really doesn't want to be a secretary afterall.

She's brilliant at taking dication though..I love it though as I have never had someone who I can dictate to and who taps away so quickly.
She's going to continue to work with us for a while (and we have masses for her to do plus she's doing a good job with the online part) and consider a course at LCF next year.

I may be AWOL for a few days but will try to log in to try and keep up.

The Popup has exceeded expectations so far so got some big 'thinking' to do over the next month.

    Gen..are you in UK yet?

Your house insurance might cover accidental damage and get you a new carpet - or a long way towards one.

    Worth checking out.

Thanks elona. I hadn't thought of that. However, I think I'll wait until she's old enough for me to feel confident she won't do something like this again before I get a carpet I actually like!

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

So many quotes, so many questions + useufl things ;) dam I have to be out the house at 7am to go dress some MQ;s too. Haven't done that since having my own shop.
NEVER click on my ads - on the articles most of the ads aren't mine anyway.

QR Codes - a square "image" that people with smartphones can scan in - and it takes them to a website, or plays a video, or gives them your contact details. So you could set up every item in your shop for people to be able to scan the QR Code, which takes them straight to your website and sets a bookmark, or something. Or maybe shows them a video of it at a fashion show. Or enables them to join your mailing list by taking them straight to the form. All manner of possibilities.

I have no way of testing if this even works, but if you have a smartphone and scan this, it might take you to aforementioned article. http://i52.tinypic.com/9h2u0j.png
This is ringing a bell....def going to investigate this. thanks to John too for the link.

I thought FC's styles were a bit too edge for young kids.

They could translate well into swimwear for kids but, in their current form, I think they concetrate a bit too much on adult emale errogenous zones :D
The swimwear thing is all in the head ready to go....slight snag as there are no UK manufacturers left who specialise so it's harder to start up something up with small volumes to try it out..but I will persevere for the launch in Feb 12.
Yeah, but kids'd end up stuffing it in the school bag, then changing in the loos right before classes.

There was an article about parents being responsible for the sexualisation of children this week.

Not my fault..not me not me. targetting 18+ 100% :D

    .

"Battery" fashion - does this mean mass production suitable for dressing "battery hen" type people. or is it something to do with electricity?

:rotfl::rotfl:no ...not dressing chicken people:D. More about producing as much as you can, selling as much as you can for the lowest cost/biggest profit with scant regard for the long term welfare of the producer (both chicken and farmer).
I think the lifespan of a battery egg producing chicken is 2 years and in that time they lay hundreds of eggs but end up bald/stressed and then are killed and made into cat food.

We don't produce in that way but to reach the customer we had trade from a different type of place.

My own former store could be paralled with 'Organic' farming and, if we go forward with the new plan, we will be more Free Range...and FR feels just right now.

Thanks for the insight fc. It's really funny, I never forgave River Island for taking over Chelsea Girl, changing the name (that bit was ok) but then putting the prices up. When I was younger Chelsea Girl was my go to brand along with Top Shop, and Warehouse for work clothes then I'd chuck a few more expensive bits in for good measure (Fiorucci, Body Map, Wendy Dagworthy, Joseph etc). I hate the cheap shops of now (Primark etc) as in my nostalgic mind the Chelsea Girl clothes were made better, though I think this may be my memory playing tricks.

These days Boden is far more my style - though I find some of their clothes a little square they are damn easy to wear - but a bit expensive for me. I often check them out in second hand stores when some yummy mummy has met her friends for tea in it and can't be seen again in the same this season's top.

River Island is still owned by the same people as chelsea girl and they re-branded it in late 80's I think. They 2 owners are in their 70's now.

I don't know what's happened to markets. The really good ones that were around when I was a kid seem to have died off until fairly recently when the market appears to have undergone a resurgence. I particularly like it when the French market is in town with its massive selection of cheeses. We definitely never had such exotic luxuries when I was younger. A slightly edgy cheese was Edam back then.

A lot of goods in the old markets was 'overmake' from UK factories hence the mega bargains plus you didn't have Primark etc back then. 'Proper ' shops were always more pricey...even the cheaper ones like C+A.

A lot of wholesalers I have delat with used to talk about how the markets died in the 90's (for new clothing especially) and Primark, George @ Asda just took over part of that customer base fair and square.

what do you do now in your family unit? Its interesting to see if its changed.

In our house when I'm very lucky I get coffee in bed at the weekends while dh lets animals out/feeds them. :)

Almost exactly the same, actually! Breakfast isn't a sit-down-together meal. Lunch and dinner we do together, at weekends, unless otherwise arranged. Dinner is always together unless someone's out etc, and proper notice is given (-:

We don't have breakfast, never did. In a discussion about this recently I said to my sibling that the school had spoken to my parents about sending me to school without breakfast and I remember being told that I wouldn't eat it (that's what they told the school). My sibling pointed out if I'd been offered any food I'd have never turned it down... and then pointed out that mum never got up in the mornings until after we'd gone to school. It's odd how I never noticed before.

Thing is I have to walk out there to see if the windows are steamed up or not. Sometimes I just let the dogs out to bark. :) Not possible at the moment because of dog-dog's leg. She's be very upset if she could here Big-dog having guard dog fun without her.

Not sure about the peacocks. I'm really confused over dates now. I adjusted humidity up last week, so that might have scuppered them...me doing that too early. Anyway, I've got them on manual turn and high humidity now, with the adjusted expectation of sometime between yesterday and Friday. No sign of them yet. :(

Teeny tiny hen chick is very cute.

I'd just like some eggs to eat now :( Weird to go all through winter with plenty of eggs and be treating them as precious rarity in summer when they should be laying like gooduns.

Breakfast in my house was a big thing or nothing. I got in the habit of not having it, and its not great for people. I still find ordinary breakfast alone a bit of a chore, but love long slow brunchy breakfast with friends. My real ''treat'' daily breakfast is my end of chore coffee (which I'm having now). The kettle gets boiled for dog-dogs breakfast when we come in and I take a mug of the water for an instant coffee or a rosemary tea and look at my day's to do list.
