Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

And I think I need therapy now
PN, I'm not sure what this is about and I don't feel able to help because not sure what's happened.
But I am sorry you are upset.0 -

However, if you're in the Warrior Forum, there's tons of people there gagging for solutions - and it's riddled with ideas of what's needed.
Programming is largely what I do for money. Not for pleasure. I did the university thing (got a first class degree, worked at a placement at the national computing center for a year on CORBA and compilers) then worked in the industry for a few years before health caught up with me.
I am a good programmer. Although very rusty.
I also, unfortunatly, after working 12 hours a day programming for several years got to the point that I really dislike it.
So I still do it, but only when I need the money, and I am not as good at it as I used to be:)PasturesNew wrote: »I I was somewhere where they were asking for/inviting feedback/comments, but then we were told "nothing negative". Well, I have an issue with that as firstly I feel that saying that is a negative comment - and, secondly, feedback isn't negative, if it's experience/realism.
So, whenever I said anything I was pretty much left in no doubt I had to !!!!!!.
Sounds like a real pain. I hate things like that.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

There's so much I'd like to be able to do with my sites. But I know to learn php/MySQL to the level I need would take 1-2 years and I've not got the time.
Some of it's quite straight forward stuff ... but then chuck in the IM style requirements I have and it gets a bit niche.
I am forever investigating plugins to perform simple tasks - then trying them and they're not up to scratch.
It'd be great to have a site "just like gumtree" for example. Not hard, but it's not something that's readily available out there... and a simple directory plugin, but none of the current ones perform how I want them to... so it's annoying/limiting.
I picked up a script on WSO 2 weeks ago, 1/10th of the retail price... cost of a cheap pizza. I thought it did one thing - but it doesn't really... but it does these other cool things that are dead handy
That's basically just a redirect script with cloaking and click tracking. It also has an rss feed. And it's searchable. But, having kicked it around a bit, it's also got flaws and shortfalls. But for the price I paid it's well worth it. But I still have my original problem, which I've actually been trying to solve for 10 years.... could have learnt that programming by now.0 -
I've nearly joined the world .... had a random email tonight, some bloke asking to be my friend in LinkedIn. Well, that's a tad bizarre as I did join 4 years ago and hadn't really logged on since. However, I recognised the guy's really unusual name as being a guy from a village I used to live in - and I knew him so thought "Yeah, OK".
So I accepted and logged on. And looked through. I have 3 connections now...
1] Bloke from my village from 70s-90s
2] The China Director of a company I worked for, who didn't even have a China branch when I worked for them, so don't know him.
3] Some random recruitment agency herbert.
So, 1 out of 3 I know. So I went to his profile and ... bizarrely ... it's not the bloke from my old village, who had an exceedingly titter-worthy and peculiar name, but some random yank with the same name.
So ... I'm LinkedIn to complete strangers0 -
Tonight - Lunar Eclipse.
Moon'll be rising shortly - and it'll be red for about an hour and a half. Although we're not really in the right place to see it for all of its time, but you might see the tail end of it.0 -

I'm on LinkedIn. It's one of the few social networking sites that I use as I'm really not into Facebook (the work of the devil) or Tweeting on a regular basis (self indulgent twaddle). I find LinkedIn works really well for staying in touch with work contacts and I monitor who I allow to join very carefully. But one request to join my network recently was surprising. I have bought one thing on eBay. One. Ever. They've asked to join my network! !!!!!! is that about? Not only do they want me to grade my shopping experience (cba) but they want to be my friend for buying one thing once. I don't go out to buy a sandwich from Boots at lunchtime in order to make friends with the cashier, or pay money into my bank in order to arrange a pilates session with the teller. Bonkers I tell you...Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? edit: I can go monday morning to friday evening not seeing a soul sometimes.
Although I see a few people every day, they are always the same ones Sometimes can feel the same as not seeing anyone too...if you know what I mean
I am really missing working solo or just with OH. I prefer to work in total silence and totally alone most of the time but then thrive on those manic/lots of people about times too....and a bity of oud music when stresssd out......but just me myself I in the silence suits me better.
It's a liitle bit of a drawback as , if we were to grow the current business, I would have to manage more and more people, even if only at 1st to get them going.
We have staff in most days except for one and it's my most fave day. No radio, no chit chat, no having to talk, no having to consider anyone else at all....just concentrate on my job in hand at the time. Heaven.chewmylegoff wrote: »no, they just love to move us around. in the past 3 years our whole division has moved floors twice, and then they restructured and moved my team to a different part of the same floor. the next move isn't really a promotion, but i am changing jobs to do something a bit different with a bit more prestige (internally at least).
no offices at mine, everything is open plan. i don't think that the CEO has his own office, none of the other directors do.
The whole openplan thing is difficult...when we moved into our new studio we had to choose what to place where and decided to have 1 room as an all in one office with enough workspace for 4 of us (desk/pc etc).
I then nabbed a whole room for myself to hide in with my machines and clutter/drawing/trims/samples stuff...and how much time have I spent in it? Hardly any quality time at all.
OH now finds the chatter of the dmin girls a bit distracting and want's his own office so we have a spare room that we may convert for him to concentrate in sometimes. He's same as NDG...can't concentrate when interrupted or there is noise.
Our stock room lady loves having her own room/ to work in. She's organised everything to suit her work and has her own fave radio station on, her own places to put things (so we have to ask where things are)....I think humans may be territorial and sharing space and noise stresses us out a bit.
I have to say I read back the above and the pain + angst of running one's own thing is often outweighed by the choices I can make on how to work day to day. Still a priviledge.PasturesNew wrote: »There's so much I'd like to be able to do with my sites. But I know to learn php/MySQL to the level I need would take 1-2 years and I've not got the time.

It's age old...getting enough time to fit everything in.
Sorry to read about the rubbish teaching/course whatsit yesterday.
Sounds to me like people trying to 'sell' courses so they can nab the funding and you got caught up in it by mistake. Don't take it personally though........we had it recently with some rip off grant hard sell....and it was sooooo obvious it was a crock of ****. Didn't help that I said it came over to as that either but, hey, would have been ruder not to say anything at all eh?:)
Don't let it upset you.
Well...I am off to watch The Apprentice now and we were commenting the other day that our pop up planning was feeling a bit like an episode..but worse.:D
Nearly had the tears today ........I will never ever do anthing like this ever again in such a short time frame.0
